~~The official FIRE JOHN FOX AND MARTY HURNEY thread~~

My bet would be for

1. GM - Bill Cower

2. Head Coach - Bill Cower

I keep reading from posters on this board that Cowher would want GM & HC titles. I'm not necessarily saying he should be our next HC (though I would be thrilled), but does anyone have any source that shows he actually said that, or is this pure speculation? It seems like this is one of those statements that have been made out of speculation that just keeps getting rehashed until it's accepted as true. Not sure if I agree that's what he wants.

Fire Fox? Maybe, and I'm thinking of purchasing a ticket for that bandwagon.

Fire Hurney? No way in hell. He is a genius when it comes to getting the team in under cap (this year excluded). He has done well in free agency, and the draft, and makes difficult cuts when he has to. Keep Hurney.

Every general manager in the league and get a team under cap. Free agency? Um, can you name a single quality player on this team that got here through free agency? Draft? Sure he's done well with his first-round picks, but look at the list of busts from the second round on. It's mind-boggling. Only scoring with first-round picks has crushed our depth. Difficult cuts? Players like Mike Rucker and Mike Minter shouldn't have even been in the league in their final seasons they were so bad.

Let me break this down for people that are bitching at Sam Mills Fan:

1) We are staring 0-3 in the face right now (aka no playoffs this year)

2) We have NO FIRST ROUND PICKS in a year where we could have the highest pick since Fox/Hurney have been here

3) They gave an old ass mediocre QB a FORTY MILLION DOLLAR EXTENSION!

4) They paid a DE 18 million bucks b/c he is a difference maker. Yet we have given up 66 points in our first two games

5) DANNY EFFING CROSSMAN IS STILL ON OUR COACHING STAFF EVEN THOUGH OUR KICK COVERAGE HAS BEEN TERRIBLE FOR THE LAST 5 YEARS!

6) We have major injuries every single freakin year (except last year). That has to do with conditioning and practice methods.

7) While most teams are moving AWAY from the Tampa 2 we are going TO the Tampa 2.

and finally

8) Bill Cowher wants to get back into coaching and one of his former players (Jerome Bettis) is lobbying for him to come to Carolina.

We are a mediocre team after going 12-4 and there is really only one injury to speak of that is worth mentioning. Not having Kemo hurts but most teams get over the fact that ONE of their players is injured

This is the year that we get a new regime in here. IF a team goes from 12-4 to out of the playoffs it is NOT anyone's fault but the HC. For sh*ts sake Schottenheimer got fired after his team went effing 14-2! Fox has had 7 years to get something done here and we have one NFC championship to show for it.

I had to stop reading after #2, cuz again, ignorance make people sound dumb as hell. You are another fairweather, no-football nimwit who doesnt know poo.

this whole thread is just laughable. I am not a Fax or Hurney fan, but fire them after a 12-4 season just because they are 0-2. Should the Titans fire Jeff Fisher? People need to calm down. It is a long season and it isn't over yet. Now if we are 2-10, that is a different story.

This is as good a post as any for me to jump into the Cowher discussion. I'm not necessarily sold on Cowher. I know he was a fantastic coach with the Steelers, but I question whether the fire is still going to be burning inside him if he comes here next year. I fear there may be a bit of a George Seifert effect in him. He's won his Super Bowl, what is there left to prove? I guess that he can right the sinking ship that is this franchise, but Cowher makes me nervous. I wouldn't object if Richardson hires him, but I'd be a bigger fan of a Leslie Frazier taking over.

How does complaining about not having a first-round pick make someone a dumbass? We traded away a first-round pick that could have been #1 overall with Sam Bradford coming in here at this rate and for what? A second-round rotational defensive end. That's a major oops.

Do you expect us to have the worst record in the league? That will be the only way his second statement would be vaild.

Please read the thread. I'm not in favor of them being fired today. I think it would be appropriate to have Fox and Hurney clear out their offices the day after the final game of the season.

And the 12-4 season excuses nothing. We are currently in the worst shape the franchise has been under Fox and Hurney. We're back to Square 1 and are no closer to a Super Bowl (which is the ultimate goal after all) than the day John Fox and Marty Hurney were hired. And that's saying a lot considering that they were hired after a 1-15 season. But we had zero chance of winning a Super Bowl when they came in here and we're at zero chance of winning a Super Bowl now. Eight years and we're back where we started.

The Panthers are one of the five worst teams in the league right now. I fully expect the Niners to have a top 5 pick next year in an extremely deep first-round draft. There are so many great talents early in the draft at positions we need: Bradford, Sneed, Suh, Eric Berry, Clausen, McCoy, Taylor Mays.....we're not going to have a chance at ANY of them.

We are not in the five worst teams, we have one of the five worst gameplans and schemes at this point, but you are side stepping. I asked you are we going to have the worst record in the NFL? That was my point and you tried to argue that and still wont give a direct answer.
