EDIT: Make sure to check out new developments in the Fire Fox/Hurney movement later in the thread starting at http://www.carolinahuddle.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2194656&postcount=185. Thanks!

Panther fans, lend me your ears. Through the incompetence of John Fox and Marty Hurney, the energy has been sucked out of this franchise. 2009 has seen one of the most embarrassing playoff losses in NFL history, a winless preseason, and two ugly losses to start the season. We've been outscored by 36 points this season, currently the most in the league. The decision to trade away next year's first-round pick for a rotational defensive end, the decision to tag Julius Peppers for $16 million+ this season, the decision to give a 34-year-old quarterback coming off the worst postseason performance in league history for a quarterback a $20 million extension, the decision to not add a SINGLE free agent to shore up any position on the team, the decision to not even attempt to find an heir apparent for Jake Delhomme.........these have GUTTED this franchise.

Their time has come and gone. John Fox and Marty Hurney have been joined at the hip since 2002 when Fox became head coach and Hurney became general manager. Yes, under their guidance, this team has had some success. But their time has past.

The quarterback position is a wreck. There STILL isn't a receiver they've found that can play besides 89 and Moose. Offensive line depth is non-existent. The defense is atrocious with not a single quality player to be found on the defensive line other than Mr. Million Dollar Quarterback Hurry Julius Peppers. Other than Beason and TD, there isn't a serviceable linebacker on the team. The safeties continue to beabominable...in fact, there hasn't been a quality safety on this team under Fox and Hurney since the days when Mike Minter was still a good player. The special teams has been a disaster for years with the returners going to random players and the coverage teams being god-awful.

It has gotten back to that ugly point in 2001 where you're mocked if you wear Panthers memorabilia out in public in the CITY OF CHARLOTTE HOME OF THE TEAM.

This hasn't just been a 2009 issue. Questionable decisions have been made in the GM and coaching spots for years. Not resigning Will Witherspoon. Not drafting Joe Flacco and numerous other quarterbacks that are better than Jake Delhomme. The mostly laughable draft history since 2002. The signing of David Carr. The numerous fantastic free agents they've passed on throughout the years. The lack of halftime adjustments. Not letting players tip their hand as to what an offensive play is going to be before the snap. The same old, vanilla and conservative play-style that has driven Panther fans insane for years. To top it off, we've never had back-to-back winning seasons much less back-to-back playoff appearances and it appears like that will continue this year.

The Richardson brothers were dismissed to have a clean start in the front office. We, the good people of the Carolina Huddle, are in agreement that there should be a clean start at the GM and coaching positions.

FIRE JOHN FOX AND MARTY HURNEY!

Think about how many picks we've made since 2002 and we only have Gross, Wharton, Otah, Kalil, DWill, JStew, Beason and T Davis to show for it. The rest of our picks are no longer with the team, are merely decent or the jury is still out on. They've found an average of one great player per draft. Is that really that impressive?

Oh and I forgot Peppers, Gamble, and Marshall. 12 great players in 8 drafts. The list of busts is much, much longer even still.

Yay... Lets sticky this... Are you f**kin serious???? Wow... what are we like 12??? Lemme ask you something when poo goes down at work.. and you dont make your goal... do you fire everyone??? Or do you find out whats wrong and fix it? Just saying....

Yes, you look at what the problem is. The Panthers are like your local shitty Burger King down the road with the horrible manager that doesn't care about his job. The problem is with the management.

Are You stoned? I can understand that you are a bit down after a couple tough games but this is laughable.

No, you are laughable. If you want to continue watching this garbage thats your choice (I don't know why you would). These two clowns need to go! We need a new direction and attitude! FIRE THESE TWO IDIOTS, AND DO IT NOW!!!!!

If I failed to make adjustments to what was happening, was stubborn to any change at all, and didn't do well every other year I'm pretty fuging sure I'd lose my job.

    • There is merit to the points you're making here. On the flip side one could argue it took us investing 150 million in the oline for him to have a breakout season. And he has still yet to hit 1k rushing yards in a season. As far as Brooks goes the position does not require that significant of a draft investment for many other teams. That's not being negative it's just a matter of fact. The 49ers did quite well with a UDFA running back while McCaffrey was out. It is understandable that some people have concerns. That being said it boils down to whether or not you believe in the player. We just have to see what happens with him and Brooks.
    • Okay, that day in Vegas had to embarrass him completely. Andy showed him how to do the job.  What I think when I go there, why did it take Andy? He has had game after game of watching actual NFL QBs work and that didn't do it?  Anyhow Andy did not mess around, he stood in there and did his job and got rid of the ball ahead of the pressure. Down the field. With the same players Bryce had. Night and day.  If that didn't wake him up nothing ever would. But I don't think he has any sort of top NFL QB in him, he just lacks the full tool kit.
    • Team is dangerous right now, all four lines are contributing and the speed at which the guys play at is tremendous.
