These are guys who's success may rely in a big way on w/ an upgraded/new role:

KONY EALY

  • He showed what's up in the SB and I'm hopeful he's made a great turn.  I'm the most excited for Kony out of any other Panthers player.

KURT COLEMAN

  • He could be providing a significant SS dominant, FS filler role with a Godfrey/Marlowe rotation.  Showed up big last year, has shown great sh*t but inconsistency prior to NC, so needs to show again...and as a leader.

DARYL WORLEY

  • He may not be our first DB pick, may not seem like much yet, but watch out for him.  Factoring speed and readiness, Dan is the 1ST guy in line.

DEVIN FUNCHESS

  • Jeremy did the work for this one

DARYL WILLIAMS

  • Bottom line: I understand Remmers looked quite good on-and-off last year but then the playoffs happened.  There's a clear chance for a classic OL starter-split/stretch. swaparroo and Daryl is NFL ready.  No doubt.

That's my crew to watch out for. Onions over funions.

Id say keep an eye on kelvin benjiman.  He has the ability to be one of the top pass catching threats in the league.  He only has one year of nfl experience and though he had his ups and downs he really started to come on strong late season and in the playoffs.  He was also showing improvement during camp before going down with the acl tear.  But a small chunk of his rookie stats were with Anderson at QB, he had some issues with drops, and hes coming back from a full year off of football.  Ill say how quickly he can reestablish his role as go to reciever in this new look group will be as important as any thing else to watch for.

Nice post Davos.

Like most, I've been down on Remmers since the SB. One thing I will suggest though is I believe Remmers will improve.

He's a pro and I'm sure he's thought about the man handling he took during the SB. I would imagine he's got as much motivation to get better as you can get .

Does he have the pure athleticism and skill set to keep his job from the hungry freight train headed his way ? Not sure, either way we get better with the competition. I'd like to think Remmers is going to make it a very difficult job to take his spot.

May the best man win.

Everybody is assuming KB is a given.  He had a good rookie year, and then got hurt, and had to take over a year away from football.

Less then 10 months is not over a year.

He missed an entire football season and doesn't have his conditioning right.  August 19, 2015 [injury] to September 8, 2016 [Broncos game] > 1 year.

Gotcha.....but I don't see the fact he was injured prior to the season as a negative compared to during the season.

I was a tad shwammered at the time of the post but I was trying to highlight the guys who have either shown a big spark or will have the opportunity to get significant time.  In other words--guys with an upward trajectory but still need to prove themselves in a way or two.

With Godfrey, I'm just not sold on him but he's a completely serviceable FS.  In my opinion, FS is the more natural spot for both him and Coleman and eventually want a long term SS where Kurt can slide back to center field.  That may be another year (or two) but Kurt needs to carry over his play from last season regardless.  He's shown his skills in KC and Philly and I'd love to see him finally come into his own here becoming consistent and a long-term fit.

It would not shock me to see Funchess be more productive than KB.

People forget they weren't drafted all that far apart. Gettleman had first round grades on both.
