good for you. sticking it to a complete fuging asshole of a boss is the absolute best, especially when you're trading it for a better quality of life. i can tell you firsthand that i didn't realize how much life i wasn't living by pulling those 60-80 hour workweeks for so many years and now it's night and day. the pay cut from my old job to the new one is staggering and tough to swallow, but it's well worth it

I also took a huge paycut but I've got an extra 20-30 hours of my life back every week now.  I'm poorer but happier now that's for sure.  It was an adjustment at first but I made sure my house and cars were paid off before I made the change.

You only live once and I'd rather have the extra time than the money.  Of course it would be nice to be able to find a job that could balance it but in my area there aren't any...none that I'm qualified for anyway.

Our meeting was bad this AM...  I got bitched at and decided not give him my resignation letter until 1 hour later.  When I did... He was devastated.  I actually felt terrible. He apologized and said he never meant to push me this far.

Why?

So the divorce between my VP and myself was bittersweet.  He felt betrayed and did not spoke to me or wished me luck or even said good bye...  He completely ignored me until my last day at work.  Today was my first day at my new job and I was told I will never work holidays, weekends or even stay past 5pm... "cries"

Yeah that VP would gotten a handshake with me whispering in his ear that he can suck my Big Russian Bear Knob then smiled as I walked away.

Spoke to my previous coworker and they struggling to find my replacement...  Had multiple interviews and no one fits the bill...

While I had very good 8 days at my new job.  My new boss is awesome and we really get along.  Been working less hours, less stress and able to eat lunch with my wife every day.  Really enjoy uptown right now.

My only question is if you had a good job in hand; why not go for leverage?  You're saying you went for a feel good "I quit" yet had something good in hand.  That should be win win.  There's too much not adding up here.   I mean, congrats on the new job but there's a lot of subtle indicators in your narrative suggesting it's quite different from how you're framing it.

No leverage...  I was ready to leave.
