jake and john lost another game for us

lol, what else would we have done? Going for it on 4th down was the obvious choice with how bad the defense was playing. Jake had a pretty good game other than the stupid decision when he underhanded the ball for grabs. The INT he threw didn't hurt us. In that situation I'd rather a qb throw a pick than an incomplete pass out of bounds. He was about to be sandwiched and threw it to his best receiver.

The defense was bad. None of our blitzes got to the QB and they converted so many 3rd downs it was painful to watch. I just think we don't have the talent in the secondary really. A bunch of overrated guys and then you have some young guys with them who aren't ready to play.

I don't completely blame the secondary, because I think it's the scheme and lack of pressure more than anything else. However, it is sad that Captain Munnerlyn looked better than the veterans. I've always felt Gamble was way overrated. Now, he's also overpaid.

Captain was a sure tackler and definitely stood out, but I wonder are the schemes a result of the players capabilities?

Early in the game they were playing so far off receivers on third downs it was embarassing to watch Matt Ryan drop it down to a guy standing right at the first down marker with no one on him. Later in the game I noticed guys on receivers closer, but they were still making plays (Great QB and Tony Gonzales is amazing).

Godfrey was also out of place on the long pass to Gonzales for the TD.

The fumble by Deangelo Williams and the blocked punt hurt us most.

Keep in mind that even though Jake threw a couple bad passes, a couple passes of his passes that were dropped should have been caught (King and Smith come to mind).

If you think Jake lost this game, you really are a moron. Sorry to say that, but it's true.

What we saw today was the team we though we'd see during the preseason: a team with offensive firepower in Smith and the backs, but with a suspect defense.

Captian looked the best b/c we have not had a full year of coaching him. Wait till next season...he will miss tackles and passively watch WR's run by him. Gamble, Marshall, Harris, Manning Jr. all had better 1st years with us...WTF!?

Sadly, I was thinking the same thing. All of our DBs seem to regress after they've been with us for a while. Munnerlyn only got the break up at the end because he doesn't know yet that he's supposed to back up 15 yards and then go in for the tackle.

    • Okay, that day in Vegas had to embarrass him completely. Andy showed him how to do the job.  What I think when I go there, why did it take Andy? He has had game after game of watching actual NFL QBs work and that didn't do it?  Anyhow Andy did not mess around, he stood in there and did his job and got rid of the ball ahead of the pressure. Down the field. With the same players Bryce had. Night and day.  If that didn't wake him up nothing ever would. But I don't think he has any sort of top NFL QB in him, he just lacks the full tool kit.
    • Team is dangerous right now, all four lines are contributing and the speed at which the guys play at is tremendous.
    • And every nfl player wannabe tries to up their draft position through things like the combine and theyre all basically lying though those drills theyve practiced hundreds of times that have little bearing on if theyre a good football player. The pro days are even worse. All you have to do is dupe 1 team. Is it right? No. But until teams put more emphasis on college tape vs. What they did in shorts with no defense it'll happen every year. I doubt there is a single player that wouldn't try anything to up their draft prospects.  Young had years of tape and that shouldve been what the decision was based on. Not a scale and throwing in shorts.  ( btw I think the combine and pro days are 90% a waste of time) Young has it financially made already. It's up to him if he wants to be a good football player too. I think the benching was the best thing that could've happened to him. It remains to be seen if it was enough
