I will probably wait until it gets out of dry dock before I go.  I still want to see and be on it though.  I am a history buff.

Many years ago, got to take a tour of the HMS Victory, which was pretty cool.  But the Victory is in permanent dry dock, so seeing the constitution as it actually was 200 or so years ago would be fantastic.

The USS Cassin Young is the next dock over from the USS Constitution at the Charlestown Navy Yard. It is in the water.

You can still get on the Constitution and the museum beside the dock is pretty good.

For those of you into history, the Bunker Hill monument is only about a 15 minute walk from the USS Constitution. Also, about 20-30 minutes away from Boston, you can walk the Battle Road - the route the British took in April 1775 to capture American supplies and weapons. The road ends where the first battle of the Revolution was fought. The spot where Paul Revere was captured during his midnight ride is marked.

You'll also pass grave markers like this  390_5._Bloody_Angle.jpg

This summer my I am taking my family (young kids) through New England. I'm looking for family friendly activities from Boston MA to Portland ME. The only thing I know we are doing is the Children's museum and Fenway in Boston.

Suggestions of places to eat and things to do are appreciated.

Drive to the top of Mt Washington in New Hampshire. Highest winds ever recorded, 225 mph, up there. My kids have never forgotten that little trip.

I don't know if I missed it or if you even said, but are you going to be flying directly to Boston or are you driving up that way?

If you're driving, there are some things near the Connecticut and Mass border that are pretty cool. The basketball hall of fame is in Springfield, MA. CWG is familiar with that area too IIRC. Quabbin reservoir is pretty cool if you're looking for a calm place with a cool backstory, and it was the setting of some of HP Lovecraft's work, as well as Stephen King's "Dreamcatcher."

I flew in to Boston once when they were working on the airport, and traffic getting back to get my flight home was a nightmare. Hopefully they're done with all that now. I didn't get time to explore the city, as it was a day trip, but I've always wanted to go back. There are plenty of things to do and sights to see, if you can tolerate yankees.

Flying in, spending a few days in Boston, then renting a car and driving it up the coast to ME

I spent a total of 19 bucks for a week pass...  It included the trains, buses and water taxi's...  Unreal how easy it is to get around...  The Silver line from the airport is actually free....

That's pretty legit. I am told Boston is rather small as well.  Was that for getting around Boston, or heading up to Maine?
