Jake is back, Defense...not so much.

i think the only other QB in the league that gets as much hate as Jake is McNabb. yes he had a terrible game in the playoffs.. and a terrible game last week. but that was fuel to the fire of all the anti-jake fans in this town. Today showed that our problems are MUCH deeper than just one person. Anyone who blames any of this loss on jake obviously doesn't know much about the game of football. and I'm not a Jake fan or anything, but i believe in giving credit where credit is due and placing blame where it's due

The bar is set lower for Jake Delhomme than any other starting QB in the league. If he doesnt throw 4 INTs he had a good game. LOL.

Bingo.

I knew this would happen this week. Jake would play like his usual mediocre self and people would make threads proclaiming that "Jake's back baby!!" with his 1 TD, 1 interception performance lol.

That being said, you can't blame the offense for this loss. It was the defense, special teams, and coaching.

You show once again why you are one of the least-respected posters on this board outside of Falcons trolls.

Today is proof that he's held to a higher standard because of that he's achieved in the past. He threw for over 300 yards, Smitty had over 100, and he had 1 TD and 1 INT...any other game last year you would have considered that to be a good game for Jake. That's not a horrible game by any means for any quarterback. Especially when his only turnover didn't result in any points for the other team.

Jake is not "back". Jake has always been here. The same inconsistant QB as always. He's up and down from game to game. Yes he played a decent game today, but if the Atlanta defenders didnt drop 2 easy INTs we would be singing a different tune. For a bright spot, at least his poor decision making improved some. Can he keep it up? I doubt it.

Im starting to think Fox is the one controlling the defense. We're still playing the same "bend but dont break" crap that kills us time and time again. Our secondary looks like a high school varsity squad. Our corners are still giving too much cushion. Godfrey and Teal are crap.

Special Teams are still terrible as always. The only reason Crossman still has a job is because Mark Jones saved his ass last season. Crossman needed to be gone years ago, but somehow still seems to hang on with us.

Fox's poor game management was in full speed today. You have 2 damn timeouts before the half, but you don't take one till two seconds left in the game. Then at the end of the game, he doesn't choose to kick a field goal that wouldve gotten us closer and wouldve given us more time on the clock after the defense gives us the ball back.

yeah.. Fox is definitely the one calling the defense.. cuz it is the exact same as it was with Trgovac. i am so ready for a change in coaches

the Saints are going to destroy our division and probably the conference. I highly doubt that the playoffs are in the cards.. and what makes it worse is that we don't even have a first round draft pick

Or a QB in development. In fact, we haven't had a QB in development since Fox got here. What does that tell you? I think they have been putting off developing Moore for too long so don't anybody throw that card out there. I do think Moore has Moore skills than Jake but who knows since the coaches haven't given him a chance. Dallas would have had we not stole him from them. We always seemed to pick up scrub QBs in the draft so that tells you where their priorities lie.

we have no back up plan.. which is the most frustrating thing. we need a franchise QB, but they're satisfied with Jake's up and down play. i'm tired of up and down.. i want someone who's consistently good. and I believe as long as Fox is our coach, that will never change.. so maybe it's time for a different coach

Im actually one of the most respected because I keep it 100 no matter what and dont give players on our team passes when they play like poo. Dude truth hurts, Jake sucks, is VASTLY OVERPAID, and is the reason Jerry Richardson's team will be a losing franchise and in shambles when he leaves this earth. The chickens are coming home to roost for this franchise. We mortgaged the future so Jake Delhomme can have the best horse stable in Louisiana. Im sorry I dont give our QB brownie points for not losing us the game. Id rather give him credit for going out there and winning it. And today Jake couldnt do enough to win it. He just doesnt have the talent too.

20 MILL GUARANTEED!!!

Was lucky in the 1st qtr he didn't get picked twice and when the team needed him he throw to who??? yep Smitty who was covered like white on rice for a INT. Listening to Fox sports (not the dumb ass coach) they said that Fox (the dumb ass coach) didn't care if Delhomme stinks this week, next week or any week that Delhomme is his guy. all I have to say is goodbye Fox, and HELLO COWER!!!

Now how do we feel about 2nd year QBs (Ryan) and PASS CATCHING TEs (Tony G)???

Let's be honest this team is limited to what the can do based on Fox and Delhomme, no team under these two will reach their full potential. No wonder Peppers wants OUT!!!

I appreciate everything Jake has done for our team over the years. I've also always recognized his faults and shortcomings. I have always considered myself on of the most fair and unbiased fans on this board.

That being said. Jake did not play mediocre today. That underhanded sh*t was uncalled for and we were lucky to get away with it. But, most QBs on any given Sunday have 2-3 balls dropped by defenders. Regardless, he threaded the needle several times, showed he's still got plenty of arm strength, and can be extremely accurate. The passes to Smitty (one a bullet right in front of the defenders hand and into the numbers) and the pass to King over the middle were ridiculous.

Funny thing is, if you took knew nothing of the players - name, face, or anything - and changed Jake's number to 4, everyone would be saying "he's playing the game the way it's supposed to be played, what a good ol' boy, just out there slinging it." But, he's Jake Delhomme, undrafted former backup to Aaron Brooks - so when you put that 17 on there it's "he's so inconsistent and mediocre."

we screwed up more by giving Pep all that money to do basically nothing.. they restructured Jake's contract to free up cap space cuz Pep's contract took it all. so i'm not at them for doing that.. they gave him alot of guaranteed money, but whatever.. I believe that with a better QB we could be a top tier team, but something also has to be done about the defense. They just dont play with intensity like they did when Fox first got hired. I think the whole Fox/Hurney thing has ran it's course, and with so many great coaches available we should take a hard look at making a change when this season is over

Jake threw for 308 yds (some in garbage time, but who cares), 1TD, 1int.

There was no garbage time in this game. Were we watching the same game? Did you give up early? The Panthers didn't.

I think Chris Harris might have been more effective than Teal, but it was more than his absence.

idk Teal made alot of plays because the running game was plowing through the line & LB's. Godfrey too.

the game was lost when defense gave up 28 points IMHO

jake had a shot with his supposed 4th quarter comeback. again the offense should not be put to blame on this one.

:iagree: ST sucked too.

some of you are just pure ignorant. can't accept the fact that when a game is lost, its lost no matter the QB. guess what, QBs loose games. Jake went from 77 yds 4ints to 308yds and td/int. doesn't matter the circumstances, its an improvement. he threw 1 almost int, but what QB doesn't. anytime a Defense gives up 28 points, and allows the opposing team to control the clock, 9 times out of 10 you lose. questionable play calling as well calling a flea-flicker while we are down. get over criticizing jake. this loss fell into the hands of the defense.

Foster played like crap most of 06 yet you always gave him a pass. Way to tout your own horn. I know you believe you that you are one of the best posters here because you are so full of yourself, but you rarely post anything that is not eye-rolling worthy.
