Utah WR Tim Patrick.

Just watched Utah/USC and this guy has a lot of the things Gettleman loves in a WR. He's listed at 6'5" 210. I'd never heard of him. Looking him up, it looks like he really hasn't done much in his career up until this point but he's blowing up this season. Through four games he has 376 yards and 5 TDs. He just had 6 catches for 100 yards and the game winning TD vs. USC and had a guy considered by most to be a top 5 CB in the upcoming draft shadowing him all game. Patrick owned him.

Keep an eye on this guy.

I want Ryan Switzer to replace Bersin/Philly.

We need a reliable slot receiver to help Cam. Right now it seems like most of our receivers aren't the greatest route runners and it limits our play calling. A lot of fans complain about our WRs route trees. I think it's because we don't have a guy that can run those shorter/quicker routes. I really like the idea of Switzer cutting up the short/intermediate routes while KB and Funchess do their thing on the outside and deep.

Plus he's a phenomenal return man and we all know the team could upgrade there.

    • Qbs aren't defined by physical abilities. Brady, Brees, Manning, Montana, Warner,.....doesn't seem to correlate.

    • If we are going to spend the money anyway, maybe the signing is not as bad as it seems.  Mays outperformed Corbett (before his injury and if you go back to last year, Corbett has been below average) and then Christensen took the job and Mays quickly took it from him and never looked back.  He could use improvement reaching to the next level (LBs) but picking up stunts and blitzes---he was surprisingly good.  Run blocking needs some work, but he is 25.  Corbett, in my view, should be G/C depth and if Mays steps back, he is there.  Mays should start because this team is building for the future and 30 year old players are not building blocks.  We shall see.  That is how I think about it, but there are many factors we do not know. Having said that, I like what Zavala is doing, and I do not want to bring in someone who would take opportunities away from him.  Zavala was really good at RG down the stretch, and in limited duty, was awesome. In fact, we have a guard from the PS who played briefly and did well, but he only played a few plays.  He is 25 and I recall that fans of his former team were upset when we signed him.   Maybe as the backup center only (Corbett).  You need 2 centers to run practices efficiently.  I cannot say enough about the OL coaches on this staff.  What they have done is overshadowed by the Lewis / Hunt signing.  Mays, Ekwonu, Zavala--impressive growth.
