I've never watched Game of Thrones either.

Is the show REALLY that good as people have suggested?

Yes....yes it is. The show has a little of everything. Crazy dragons, the walking dead, lots of sex including but not limited to rape, incest, and brothels and that's just the first two seasons.

Really?! Incest and rape? I think I'll pass.

Thanks for the info!

Those who don't watch (or read the books) are truly missing out.

It's not just titties and incest and dragons and magic. No that's in all kinds of shows and a lot of them suck. I personally find dragons and magic lame as poo, but my friend was harping on me to just give the show a chance because they handle things so well.

And boy howdy was he right. I went out, bought the books, and read them all over a few months.

There's so much depth to every character, it's amazing. Every choice made by someone has a butterfly rippling effect across the world, whether it be positive or negative.

Some great drama, character development, fantastic acting, betrayal, an overarching story that encompasses the entire globe, plot twists and turns that turn TV tropes and cliches on their heads. You fall in love with characters only to have them die. You despise characters only to watch them succeed and thrive. There is no just rewards, only rewards for those who play the game better than the next guy.

I would seriously highly, highly, highly recommend this show to anyone who hasn't seen it. If you're one of those hipster "I'm too good to watch something popular because it probably sucks" then go away. There's a reason that so many people across the globe have fallen in love with this story and these characters. It's fantastically well done and very enjoyable.

I've never seen Game of Thrones Either. I don't have HBO. However, I have seen every episode of the Walking Dead. I have also seen the first 6 seasons of NCIS...  I have seen sporadic episodes since then. I do not like the Spin Offs...

I'm sure it's a good show, I tried watching it but when they pushed that kid out the window for watching someone bang the queen (or something like that) I stopped.  Probably missed a lot of gratuitous violence.

I binge-watched the first season of True Detective and all of Making a Murderer so I do get hooked on some shows.  For some reason GOT's and anything having to do with zombies &/or vampires just don't get me to tune in.

Game of Thrones, while fantasy fiction, probably mimics real life more than any reality show or any other series...

Basiclally, people are assholes. They fight over their own greed, and look out for themselves and those they love. They plot and play games in order to further themselves. Some people aren't as bad, and are victims of said assholes, but ultimately life sucks and then you die.

Not only do they fight each other, but Mother Nature is always lurking at the ready to throw them a curveball and wipe out as many of them as possible.

So, if you like good stories about people living in these types of situations, and overcoming and redeeming themselves only to be killed off because, in the end, nothing really matters because people are insignificant specks in the universe, then you should really check out the books and the show.
