Does anyone know of places in north carolina or the southeastern usa that could visually double as Vietnam?

Check with some Vietnam reenactment units. Could save you a lot.

Yep my history teacher from high school does reenactments every weekend. They are dressed to a "T" and pride themselves on accuracy.

They do mostly WWII stuff though.

i also need a place with a row of barracks that look something like this

and an interior that can look like vietnam era barracks with single-level racks and some gear.

Now you're getting into set design. You won't find that around here. The only thing close enough that I know about are some old barracks at Ft. Hood in Texas...not even sure they're still there though. They were in 1998.

the absolute closest thing i can find is ft. mclellan in alabama, just a bunch of long army quarters stacked together. but the distance is too far, the siding is wrong, and pretty much so is everything else other than that they're barracks.

idk what building a set like that would run me. if i was shooting a still shot in front of one barracks it would be easy enough to fabricate that photo, but i need a long tracking shot passing in front of several of them, preferably with a deuce and a half trucking by during the scene, so crafting that would be by far the most expensive scene in the film. most of my set budget is allocated towards building a bamboo-and-pvc vietnamese village at a film location in northern florida and burning it down

For the barracks style stuff, I would check in with some of these summer camp locations around NC and SC...

Also, I think there are some scout troops around that have a deuce and a half... why? I have no idea...

In fact, some scout troops might be a good place to start asking about barracks style settings...

Another thought I had is inquiring into some of the Juvenile detention/rehabilitation centers in the state. I'm sure they would have something similar.
