WTH's going on on Bald Head Island?

From what I was told by someone that I can personally vouch as being connected to the departments corruption - I watched sheriff's run protection on more than one of his deals- Hewett had plans to give testimony in return for a reduced sentence and he got word that he was never going to be allowed to make it to that point and basically decided to go out swinging. Granted he may have just gone crazy. He also should have been in federal protective custody considering.

I work with/for a PD and I tend to side with the cops in just about every situation but this one stinks to all hell. First off, if you suspected both of them for being intoxicated and you're hard core enough to pull them over for the kid, you sure as hell aren't letting the dad drive the golf cart (presumably under the influence) back to the house AND leave the scene. Second, IF indeed she was as drunk, as he insinuates, then there is zero chance they would not have done some sort of sobriety test (either blood test or breathalyzer). They had numerous opportunities to perform one and NO ONE bothered to check the BAC of someone they are pulling in on intoxication charges!?!?!? Bullshit. That's about as egregious as "forgetting" to Mirandize someone. And if ANY of that were in doubt, you have an officer who misses two court dates while under a subpoena!? No way in hell this guy's testimony holds up and he likely knew it. Being on call or on duty isn't an excuse as it becomes a part of your daily duties to show up for said court case. This guy was ducking the charges and should have been brought up on contempt charges for failing to comply with a subpoena. To make matters worse, this officer has supposedly been fired since this all occurred. I doubt the woman was entirely in the right with what she did (you certainly don't get in a cops face wagging your finger) but this cop went WAY beyond acceptable parameters for this event.
