The Carolina Panthers wanted to be players in undrafted free agency, and they opened their wallets to do so.

The Panthers gave former Marshall running back Devon Johnson a $20,000 signing bonus, matching the total they gave former Duke star Jeremy Cash, according to league sources

Worth noting that teams can spend $87,000 in total on UDFA signing bonuses; so it makes sense that we only signed 7 when we gave over half that amount to Johnson, Cash ($20,000), and Garrett ($9,000).

I have always wondered... do the Panthers pay for the Hotel, Apartment, Condo etc that the players stay in until cuts? How do they afford a car, I  am assuming they have some sort of transportation.

My knowledge of the CBA, they do not.  Generally speaking, you must already be under contract.  A lot of guys share a place to help subsidize living expenses.

I believe they can eat at the facility for free and even take to go plates. So I don't think food is an issue.
