What happened to Netflix?

Netflix for me is pretty much just a 2 month of a year purchase , every 6 months its good for 1 month of viewing to find something decent to watch no need to keep any of these services for a full year as im finding its better to get a different one every month and also take advantage of the deals that come with resubscribing.

FYI I highly recommend everyone who subscribes to Netflix does so the way we do...

Don't give them your CC # and have a recurring monthly payment. Go out and buy Netflix gift cards... IIRC they are $30 a pop.

We have the HD 2/screen plan, so each gift card lasts around 3.5 months or so... You can let your subscription expire for a while and reactivate. This allows you to have a gap if you've caught up with all the current content they have that you want to watch.

It was never THAT good. It was just the only game in town so it gained some sort of undeserved notion of being the end all place that killed cable. Hulu is better than Netflix by a long shot (if you pay extra for no commercials), Amazon Prime is pretty decent, HBO Go has the most popular show, etc. Netflix is more of a verb now really. If more people took the time to realize there are beter options and weren't so lazy to switch, Netflix would not be seen as some amazing thing. Hell, if it weren't for OITNB, I'd have no need for it.

I still have love for Netflix but I HATE the recent auto play feature where the movie starts playing. I just wanted to read more info on the movie or show I might watch. Don't start playing the damn thing! I have yet to find a way to turn off this damn feature.

That auto play stuff must suck for those that are on a capped bandwidth plan. That could add up quick.

As much as i love movies i have a time commitment issue with netflix. I know when i go there i better carve out an hour to 90 mins. I almost rather channel surf and discover something.  Although when i drop cable this wkd that will change.

And yes NF has some spooky algorithms is uses. Like real spooky.

Disagree.  For the money....like 3 cups of coffee per month.....it's a great bargain IMO.

If you asked me at the beginning of the year if I would pay $120 a year to have unlimited access to everything on Netflix, with no commercials, I would take that in a second, especially if I've never had Netflix.

I've found myself using it more, especially as the summer months roll in.  Catching up on the Clone Wars, hitting up Firefly when I want, and all of the Marvel shows in addition to the other Netflix originals.  The kids love the kid shows, which is also an easy compromise for them.  I like Amazon and its shows, too.  But I just see that as a bonus of my Prime membership.

I've been watching 'West Wing' from Episode one for about a month now and I'm on season 6...  really great TV show.  I watched most of it when it was out originally, but that's over 10 years ago now.

Netflix doesn't have a huge selection, but it's nice to have a lot of these old TV shows to catch up on.

I havent watched movies on netflix in forever.  I think their movie selection has sucked for a long time now, like several years...  but, i watch tons of shows and docs on there, so i enjoy it for that.  I catch up on any of the 30 for 30s i miss, i love the TED Talks, and i plan on starting Narcos and a finishing up arrested development here soon.  I also watched the entirety of SOA and Breaking Bad last year, so it has definitely been worth the money.

SN: SOA jumped head first into the shitter after like the 5th season.
