The entire "don't think, accept" ideology relies upon the front office being a unified front which arrives at perfect decisions in perpetuity, together. To suggest that there would be experts who don't agree with other experts,  or even worse, that there are those who may have opinions that reflect the less popular takes that can be found on this board, would completely dismantle that ideology and people know this.

The problem is you and all the other contrarians believe that even if there is the slightest disagreement, there MUST be dysfunction and everything will fall apart. You're manufacturing drama that doesn't exist because you're mad about how management is running things.

They have the league MVP and are a favorite to defend the NFC. There are enough eyes on this team that if there was discord, we would have heard about it by now.

Take your L and move on.

Well cool. I guess it's neat being able to create your own narratives to validate your position. The rest of us will just have to live in reality.

I think this is the downside of many people creating the mythology of Gettleman as some type of mafia Don. They start to believe that he makes decisions just because he can and not because it's something he's decided with input from his two-time Coach of the Year and his staff. These same people were most likely certain that Dave was going to replace Ron several years ago. Probably best we just steer clear of this circle jerk of sadness before we get anything on our shoes...

Where did I say there was "dysfunction?"

I said there was disagreement, and that's enough to rustle your jimmies this badly lolol.

I'd wager the only reason that something so mild can bother somebody so much is because of the reason I mentioned above.

Management doesn't agree on a lot of things behind closed doors, but to the public and the rank and file they present a united front. I mean, it would be pretty stupid to challenge your boss, especially if you enjoy your employment. Moreover, everyone should know that Ron is an old school man who believes in being a professional. Part of that is towing the company line. It happens all the time.

That being said, Ron may or may not have disagreed with the decision (or parts thereof), but like a good soldier he is going to deal with it because that's his job. One thing that l basically know for a fact is that he and Dave communicate about the moves before they're made, but that doesn't mean that they get Rivera's stamp of approval, and they don't have to. That's not how business generally works. There is a hierarchy, and Rivera knows his place in it. To suggest that he is personally lock, stock and barrell---in tune with whatever Gettleman does or the way that he does it (or doesn't) is naivety at best and stupidity at worst. He is just going to put his best face on things, regardless, and his best foot forward to help achieve organizational goals.

Personally, I believe he is made privy to all personnel decisions before they get to us (because Dave is a professional too), but I don't believe for a second that if it were up to Rivera that he would have dumped Smitty or J-No. That's my belief, but it will probably never be proven without a doubt. But, neither will the contrary. So why argue over it?

THIS IS SO WELL STATED!!!  YES.

Sounds like the falcons are taking a good player. And the guy was cut because the coach couldn't tell what he had for his rookies???? Really?

Rather cut a good player vs a rookie that doesn't have a proven track record in the NFL?

You might want to take a long look at what goes on in that poo-show of a franchise in ATL, before questioning what goes on around here...

interesting. Now we know it isn't the coaching staff's decision. Ron wasn't too pleased about the Norman release either.

There is nothing in what he said that infers what you posted.  He said that he needs TC and guys in pads to fully assess the rookie cb's....nothing about him not being part of the decision on Norman.

This is an indictment on Boykin...they really either loved what they saw in the rookies or really don't like what the saw in Boykin.

I think we can extrapolate and safely assume the decision to let Boykin go was abviously DG and Ron were super impressed with the drafter rookies. Boykin was brought in based on availability and film form other teams. Boykin never stepped on the practice field for us. This should make us all feel good about our rookies.
