if he signs with falcons and play well then what......

unfortunately that's what it would take to convince most that releasing him still doesn't seem like a good idea at the moment, again barring off field issues or attitude problems

I would need that coupled with bad CB play by our rookies.

Come at me bro.

We can officially say the Panthers have the most inexperienced secondary in the NFL now.

The Panthers likely have the worst secondary in the NFL as well. I feel for Kuechly yelling at those CBs in coverage like he did Cortland. I just hope Kuechly can bail out the secondary week after week. Kuechly may very well be the best defender in coverage now.

Just like how they had the worst receivers last year, and we know how that turned out.

Most of the idiots on here can't comprehend the fact that people in an NFL front office can disagree on something.

That's my thing. I've said it time and time again in so many words (to no effect).

Management doesn't agree on a lot of things behind closed doors, but to the public and the rank and file they present a united front. I mean, it would be pretty stupid to challenge your boss, especially if you enjoy your employment. Moreover, everyone should know that Ron is an old school man who believes in being a professional. Part of that is towing the company line. It happens all the time.

That being said, Ron may or may not have disagreed with the decision (or parts thereof), but like a good soldier he is going to deal with it because that's his job. One thing that l basically know for a fact is that he and Dave communicate about the moves before they're made, but that doesn't mean that they get Rivera's stamp of approval, and they don't have to. That's not how business generally works. There is a hierarchy, and Rivera knows his place in it. To suggest that he is personally lock, stock and barrell---in tune with whatever Gettleman does or the way that he does it (or doesn't) is naivety at best and stupidity at worst. He is just going to put his best face on things, regardless, and his best foot forward to help achieve organizational goals.

Personally, I believe he is made privy to all personnel decisions before they get to us (because Dave is a professional too), but I don't believe for a second that if it were up to Rivera that he would have dumped Smitty or J-No. That's my belief, but it will probably never be proven without a doubt. But, neither will the contrary. So why argue over it?

We can really only speak for ourselves. If you think releases are dumb, great, or somewhere in between, that's your prerogative, but I will let Ron, Dave or Richardson speak (or be silent) for themselves. I suggest everyone else do the same.

The entire "don't think, accept" ideology relies upon the front office being a unified front which arrives at perfect decisions in perpetuity, together. To suggest that there would be experts who don't agree with other experts,  or even worse, that there are those who may have opinions that reflect the less popular takes that can be found on this board, would completely dismantle that ideology and people know this.

    • We can't afford to reach for one of the first round QBs this year. I would love for nothing more than Bryce to be the reason we don't even scout the bastards
