Holy cow.  That makes 8 Tight Ends on the roster at this moment....

Dickson and Simonson are likely going to have trouble making the roster!

Do not underestimate the impact of Dickson's Super Bowl suckage on this offseason.  In addition, the lack of attention at OT suggests that a blocking TE is how we intend to offset the Super Bowl withdrawals aka "Remmer Tremors."  I still get them in the middle of the night.  My wife has to throw cold water on me and whisper "Daryl Williams" in my ear.

Denver is full of BS ... I rewatched the SB ...as much as I hated it I needed answers...5 things stuck out to me....

1.) Remmers..... enough said

2.) Cotchery's dropped balls..

3.) Norman 2-3 dropped INTS.

4.) FUMBLES

5.) Special Teams... Coverage.... and Gano.

We gave that game away....

Sorry 4 that derail but it needed to be stated. As for Marcus L ....I can't remember how he performed in the preseason I do however remember that Scott Simolson guy..he was impressive as a receiving TE IMO ....very impressive... playing against backups but you never know ...if he leaves CAR it wouldn't suprise me if he followed the Gary Barnidge path. Lucas WILL not me converted to WR...I repeat.

Two tightend sets... maybe but I'm leaning towards no. We have too many receiving threats at WR (did I just say that). I honestly think we are just preparing incase Olsen gets dinged up + trying to find someone we could rotate in the lineup without a considerable drop off.

Tough Comp but Olsen and Sandland with Simolson and Lucas backing them up..FTW.

No more Dickson plz...other jersey #'s need to be called.

I get what you are saying, but there are two things you kinda gloss over. 1) We do run a bunch of 2 TE sets. The problem is, 1 of those TEs is Dickson. He isn't much of a blocker, and is worse as a pass catcher. So upgrading him would allow us to still run our 2 TE sets, but we'd have 2 TEs that could actually catch. But as you said, with our WR corp, looking good, we may just move toward more 3-4 WR sets. All I know is that if we can actually find a 2nd TE that can block as well as catch, Cam will have more weapons that ever.

2) We run the ball as much, if not more, than anyone else. So we do need that 2nd TE to block. Even though Dickson wasn't the best at it, he was still pretty much the best we could do. With Simonson having a full year of experience, as well as a full off season, maybe he can supplant Dickson. With all the TEs we have, it seems like the team is hoping to move in that direction as well.

One way or another. We are a very good team, and we are still improving. Man that sounds good to say.

He transitioned to TE last year when the WR competition was really stiff, but now both positions are pretty tough. I really thought he outperformed Brandon Williams last year, but we opted for continuity instead.

I wasn't sure if we'd actually replace Dickson, leaving only rookies behind Olsen, but signing yet another TE, one who's been around a couple years, has me thinking otherwise.

Tall order for him but I like the idea, if he has refined as a TE then he poses an interesting mismatch with his receiver attributes.

Yes indeed..I see where your coming from on the blocking. I'm not 100 percent sure but from interviews, etc... Mr.Sandland wants to be a man of all trades...he puts emphasis on even the little things.... hopefully he is the complete package. The way he talks and carries himself sure does remind me of Greg though.

Hell, Lucas is so tall if he could his blocking solidified we 'd have a definite answer. 8 te's ... that's a first for Gettle...I'd pay PPV money & more just to see this battle. Should be entertaining to say the least.

Can someone more knowledgeable than I divide our 8 current TEs into groups?

I can't speak much on Deaver, but he seems to be in the receiver category.

Olsen, Dickson, Lucas, Sandland, McGee, and Deaver as receivers with 2-3 spots available.

Simonson, Bonnet, and I'd probably include Rockhead into the TE/FB role, with only one spot available.
