Uptown is "ok", mostly zubats though, and some random rare spawns here and there.  Always Magmars in the Green every 2-3 hours and other spots.   Freedom park is better, tons of karp/psyducks/oddish/slowpoke.   Also the Sugar Creek greenway up from that park too.  You can get a lot of evolves there and random stuff.    Elmwood Cemetary has good reviews but I haven't been there and heard they are running folks off at night (no joke, they are bringing out 10-15 squad cars and a helicopter to run off 10 pokemon players just sitting around).   The cemetary off Lawyers in Mint Hill, has good reviews, haven't been.  I have drove through that cemetary off Monroe Rd. near Sharon Amity and it's really good for pokestops and has a gym around a pond where there is sitting and lots of stops, it's not bad.

Boardwalk in Unniversity wasn't that great for me but others it has been.     Ballantyne corporate park has stuff, and seems to be the place to go for spawns of Electabuzz, just like uptown for Magmars.      UNCC is a goldmine apparently but I haven't been.

Downtown Matthews is pretty good too, plus there isn't as many folks as other areas BUT enough to have stuff lured up and a good atmosphere.

I've only been playing a day and a half, seems to get repetitive pretty fast?

It gets repetitive, but I enjoy a time killer.

 

And I want to be the very best.

Caught a Venusaur in the wild earlier...extremely weak (283 CP or so), but still crazy to see him in the "wild" like that. Was driving around and had to do a double take when I saw him nearby.

Happened to me a couple of days ago but he ran off. But I did hatch a Geodude today!

Caught a 128 Lapras today. WTF is the point in that?

Unless one is connected to the other I don't concern myself with battling in gyms. I'm just in it for the collecting

Caught a 171 Dratini yesterday. From what I've seen, the first of a particular Pokemon that I run across is always pretty weak, but the levels go up on the next encounter. I doubt that is what the game is trying for, but it's been my personal experience.

Niantic has big ideas for the game. Looks like we got a bare bones rollout with a lot more coming in the future.

No, 171 CP Dratini. Found it in the parking deck attached to Queen City Q
