Report: Batum getting his money from Charlotte, doubt he even meets with other teams

Yeah, wtf is "max money"?! No way Batum is worth as much as the max a superstar player can get such as Curry or LeFlop

"The max" in this case refers to the maximum percentage of the cap that a given contract can take up.

The numbers will be eye opening since this is a new market we aren't used to and it's not likely Nic will live up to the deal, but like we just saw with Josh Norman, it only takes one team to set the market. It says alot that Nic is turning down overtures from a very good team in Toronto and a big market in New York.

The free agent market is so barren this year, outside of KD, you could make the case Nic is the best player available, and with the new TV money coming in, every team has cash to spend. Cho and everyone else knew this was coming, hence why he bought low on Kemba and MKG.

Just to get it out of the way, no, we shouldn't be burning this team down to save money for the first 200 million dollar contract in NBA history next year in Steph Curry. The Suns did this this past offseason to take whatever tiny chance they had at Aldridge and it failed miserably. However, if for some reason Curry was interested, you can bet the front office would do whatever it could to make room.

The priority right now should be keeping this squad together with a few tweaks and trying to establish some year to year consistency.

    • I just want somebody to settle into that Hangartner role and I may give Mays too much credit. He played so well early and has fell off since injuries crept into his vocabulary.  He was struggling to get push on those goal line runs today.
    • You cannot say it doesn't matter who is playing QB ever in any circumstance. The first two games of the season, Bryce was standing in the pocket with time missing throws left and right. We were running the ball well, but even the gimme throws Canales was setting up, Bryce was missing. Then you start Dalton, boom easy win at Las Vegas. By week four's end, three of our best defenders are seriously injured, center injured, 2nd best veteran WR hurt, and best veteran WR quitting on the team.  Canales is a rookie head coach, and he definitely has had some see what sticks moves. But players are being schemed open, the rookies are progressing nicely, and you have the albatross of some terrible lack of talent to phase out. I give him credit alone for pulling Mingo, Thomas, and going with the better/younger producing players. The scheme is better, he just needs better players and I am not going to write him off until he gets more talent, starting with QB!
    • I don’t want this to be another Daniel jones situation.
