2nd Wave Free Agency Starts May 12th

The world can be forgiving. If Greg Hardy held a press conference that he is seeking rehabilitation. And wants to be an advocate against domestic violence. I don't see why we wouldn't sign him back on the team. I don't know why Greg and his agent are not trying to do this.

Kinda hard to see him do that considering he himself and the court of law didn't find him guilty....

KB, Funch, Boldin, Ginn, Philly.

Easy.

This notion that we need some guy to be "the surehanded vet" is so stupid. How'd that work in the SB? Funchess and Philly made the best plays at WR. The expectations are every WR will make the play when necessary.

Embarrassed the owner of the Carolina Panthers?

@Bartin re: comment about one injury away from a potentially disastrous backup situation at OT... we lucked out last year with no OTs missing playing time besides Daryl Williams, and his injury was prior to Amini's getting sent to IR.

For week 4 with both Amini and Williams being injured, we brought up Foucault as emergency Oline backup, necessitating waiving Wes Horton (temporarily).  Fortunately he wasn't picked up by another team.   Not an ideal situation.

It's pretty shocking that we never brought in another Oline guy after Amini landed on the IR, but we were dealing with a bigger crisis at CB - first Tillman's injury and then Bene's.

I truly hope that the fact that we got away with only keeping 8 Oline on the roster for the last half of the season won't cause Gettleman & Ron to gamble again this season.  Even with players being able to backup multiple positions, I'm still not comfortable with only 8 Oline on the roster.   It really does seem like inviting disaster.

Are we definitely not interested in bringing Amini back?  We obviously know him.  I thought he played his best last year and we obviously know him.  I see on rotoworld he has visited some other teams though.

I can't possibly imagine a worse option than having Greg Hardy open his mouth and talk again.

This notion that Jerricho Cotchery = Anquan Boldin is so stupid.

I think it may be that we just don't trust him to stay healthy. He's been injured all 4 years he's been in the league. Made it through the first 15 games his rookie year before getting injured but after that 8 games is the longest he's stayed healthy. Not much point in having an injury replacement if he is just going to get injured too. He'd be perfect if he could stay healthy but that's a huge gamble.

He was in fact, found guilty by a judge. He appealed for a jury trial but Holder never showed up because he payed her off. They then dropped the charges because they didn't have the witness' testimony against him in the appeal trial.

So you are incorrect.

I'd be looking to see about veteran secondary help (likely safety) and offensive line depth.

Two names that jump out to me are OT Will Beatty (former Giant) and SS James Ihedigbo. Both are veteran guys that have produced in the past but had a down year last year. Gettleman likes to sign guys like that. Plus these are the two positions that arguably need the most infusion of experience and depth.

Two other guys that would be interesting are OG Louis Vasquez and DE Mike Neal.

Vasquez was a good player and above average starter before moving into Kubiak's zone blocking scheme. The guy is a power blocker through and through. He would be a great depth/competition signing (I think he has some experience at center too if I'm not mistaken).

Mike Neal is a guy I have liked since he was in college. He is strong as an ox and a true team player. The guy was drafted as a DT, then lost weight to become a 3-4 DE then lost MORE weight to help with depth at OLB for Green Bay. It shows this guy's discipline and athleticism. His natural fit, to me, has always been as a base end in a 4-3 and an interior rusher on passing downs. We all know Gettleman likes those type of guys and he would give us a great rotation and even increase success on run downs on the edge, IMO.

Other guys that fit us but maybe will have to wait until an injury hits (God forbid) are CB Jerraud Powers, C Lyle Sendlein, OG Willie Colon, WR Andre Johnson, and possibly S/CB Antrel Rolle.

I know people are screaming for Cromartie, but he is and always will be a man-cover corner and a me-first type guy. I don't see it happening. Now Hakeem Nicks on the other hand.... I KID, I KID.
