Gettleman didn't speak for 'Skins on Norman, but he said nothing, but said enough.

PFT always has and always will stand for Pulled From Turd.

but yeah....Gettleman knew what he was saying and it was his version of "bless their hearts."

one of the reasons a snyder run redskins will always be mediocre at best is because he's never learned that throwing money/draft picks at the player with the most hype makes your team unbalanced.

that's not to say you shouldn't spend big money from time to time, but you need to always keep the big picture in mind and the effects that decision will have on your ability to farm a good team.

what i love about the decision to walk away from norman (well, his asshat agent) was gettleman needed to send a clear message to agents (and players) that he's not afraid to say no and move on and that he's not going to play games that agents are used to playing. agents (and players alike) are going to know that gettleman values team above players and while that may rub some fans and free agents the wrong way, for those on the team already that has to feel good.

I literally responded to say he meant "bless their hearts" and then found this post and edited mine, LOL

I know more than one Skins fan who was not happy with the signing of Norman because it signaled to them that Synder is back to meddling in personnel matters since the current GM was hired to be a draft & develop guy (after they learned the expensive FA lesson the last time around). Signing Norman to this contract was totally out of character for the way they've been building the team lately and they're bummed (and I'm loving it).

I also sent my Skins fan friend several clips of TD literally wrestling Norman back to the defensive huddle and told him they better find someone who can keep Norman on a leash (without getting into a fight with him) or his hot head will cost them. He follows the NFL pretty closely and was totally unaware of this dynamic.

I love Josh but he's gone ...and I hate to say it but I only wanted at max a 2 yr deal ...its only so long before his athleticism begins to  deteriorate leading to his speed being exposed. As of now he's literally fingertips away from being ate alive....you can't run from age.

That being said, he wanted to get paid and I can't blame him...he was our best corner since Gamble... n I'll miss his fire ...BUT I also said that about Mike Mitchell. He just had a certain temperment that meshed well with our team...we lived through that and got better...hopefully I can say the same about this situation in a couple years. Good find OP!!

I don't think it was a bad contract from Washington (assuming he continues his high level of play of the last season and a half).

I truly think this was a win-win-win, close to best situation for all sides of the deal. Josh gets his big pay day and his family is set for life, Washington turn one of their weaknesses into a relative strength and we get money to splash around the roster to keep and extend more impactful (in our system) players that we might have otherwise had to let "graduate" (assuming the rookies and remaining CBs can pick up the slack enough that it's not a problem).

I agree, assuming Josh continues to play at last seasons level (which our front 7 helped a lot) and stays healthy. $50 mil is a lot to guarantee! CB is a position where elite players will continue to get paid top dollar. I think that's what G-Money meant by "Nothing is done in a vacuum, every decision every General Manager makes has a domino effect ". Now every CB that has a good season is going to want JNo money.
