Should #89 be Replaced?

Nope, he was born to be a raven. let him retire a raven. Give his number to anyone.

It doesn't even matter because WRs don't like 80s numbers anymore for some reason. We have Norwood and Hill in the 80s, the rest have teen numbers.

To be fair the haters can't let it go either.  He was never a Thomas Davis type of player that always says the right things but he did amazing things for this organization.

I love me some Smitty and he did so many positives for the organization but he also came with some negatives. And while I still cheer for him I just can't say we should retire his number. Too many negatives. Again I'm a big fan but that's not reason enough. Just my opinion.  

That being said I pity the next player that picks that number.

Whether we were a SB contender or the laughingstock of the NFL, the guy always left everything he had on the field and was legitimately the best in the league at his position for a number of years.  His highlight reel compares favorably to any WR who has ever played.   Yeah he got a little salty when he got cut but that just proves how much he loved it here, as has all of the great things he continues to do in the community to this day.  No way he doesn't get his number retired someday.

i don't think steve smith has many legit "haters" in the sense that they don't like him and think his time here didn't matter or he was overrated

things got really heated for several months and i think a lot of people said stuff they didn't really mean on both sides of the fence.

89 IMO loves the city of Charlotte.

However, I am not 100% convinced he retires a Panther.  I think odds are much higher than people think he retires a Raven.

retire it, i guess loyalty these days is becoming extinct, 13 hard fought, everything on the line years just so people can be like fug smith after 1 year......incredible.
