Hodge on ESPN

Smithers

That's strange. Our secondary is solid and our pass rush should give Ryan pressure. I don't see any good reason why White would have such a big game.

I hope you're right, but I just don't see it at this point. Our secondary is only out there to stop long passes and tackle WRs after they catch the ball. Our pass rush is very weak compared to past Panther teams. I just hope you're right about our defense, and I'm way off.

OK now this statement pertains to the Defense not playing well. BUT, even still Jake is brought in as a reason?

Come on people.. let it go. move on. I for one, thing it's getting WAY to old now.

You ask any D in the league and they will tell you its harder to stop an opposing O when they start the drive in there territory. Field position means a lot so saying that Jake and the gameplan didn't kill our whole team, including the D. Im just saying.

This prediction coming from a guy that tried his absolute hardest to get the nickname "The Cashier" to stick with Adrian Peterson. Hodge is an uber-tool.

"That's why Adrian Peterson is The Cashier, cuz he will make you pay!"

*crickets*

Followed by funny looks and smart-ass comments from the rest of the analysts for thinking of such a stupid nickname.

I know someone else here remembers what I'm talking about.

    • Team is dangerous right now, all four lines are contributing and the speed at which the guys play at is tremendous.
    • And every nfl player wannabe tries to up their draft position through things like the combine and theyre all basically lying though those drills theyve practiced hundreds of times that have little bearing on if theyre a good football player. The pro days are even worse. All you have to do is dupe 1 team. Is it right? No. But until teams put more emphasis on college tape vs. What they did in shorts with no defense it'll happen every year. I doubt there is a single player that wouldn't try anything to up their draft prospects.  Young had years of tape and that shouldve been what the decision was based on. Not a scale and throwing in shorts.  ( btw I think the combine and pro days are 90% a waste of time) Young has it financially made already. It's up to him if he wants to be a good football player too. I think the benching was the best thing that could've happened to him. It remains to be seen if it was enough
    • This.  Honest introspection on his behalf would have seen that size and strength were his biggest weaknesses. He looks no different. With the programs in the NFL, he could have come back to camp 10 lbs of muscle heavier. Easily. If had done so, it would have been reported on. It would have been the hottest story…. But we never saw anything of the sort, so it probably never happened.  He showed improvement this last game, likely from Andy’s tutelage. He has to show something VERY special to close the season out to change my thinking on him… like 4 game winning streak with a clutch 4th quarter comeback. Then maybe.
