I'm actually in the process of redoing and reassembling my home production setup. I'm planning on making an album or more worth of material and releasing it via iTunes or something. It'll be a mix of everything, probably, with some vocal artists and some instrumentals, and all kinds of genres.

Here's some more of my really old stuff.

I've been making these lately like either on the toilet or when my daughter takes nap. Not much editing involved but it's fun.

It really isn't all that hard, and if you have a little bit of talent, you can really make nice stuff.

I checked out your page. There are a lot of good starts there. There were at least a couple tracks I really liked.

thanks dude, I don't put that much time into it because it's just for fun but yeah they're mostly just concepts. I'd love to get some rappers involved eventually.

For me, at least, motivation is a big part of it too. I haven't done much in years because the world kind of gets you and holds you down sometimes. Music is really a release though and a great way to express yourself, even if it is only you banging your own head. As a father myself, I know free time is limited.

I've got a few friends that rap that I will likely get on my new stuff, but I want to find some other singers and stuff too.

Keep on keeping on with it, though. You never know, it could turn into something one day.

JSQUARED! lmao. Sometimes i have to remind myself that you're that guy.

also this stuff that you and 15 made is really cool. Sometimes I flirt with the idea of being an EDM producer. I have my name and my first album cover laid out. But I don't have any song or melody ideas lol. I guess you just have to experiment a lot to get the catchy hooks. But until last week I didn't have a connection to do anything with. One of my coworkers told me that he's got a production company with a studio in Bayonne. It's a small operation but I think I wanna get involved.

GO FOR IT. I can't tell you how many times I have felt like I was "this close" to being associated with something that actually went somewhere. Then there are times you have opportunities and walk away from them or let them pass you by, and then later you wish you hadn't.

You can start with something as simple as a entry level keyboard/synth. You don't even have to have one of those if you get you some software like Fruity Loops or Reason. Once you learn the basics, you can make music from any genre, and the more practice you get, the better you'll get.

My biggest issue is falling into the same structure in a lot of the "beats" I do in which I have an intro/chorus/verse/chorus/verse/chorus. You have to throw in some progressions and things to keep things interesting on a personal level, but some of the hit songs of today, especially radio hip-hop and pop, can be made in an hour or less.

You seem like someone into music for the music, and not the notoriety or money that can come of it, which is a good thing. But, I am at a point where I would like to explore the potential to at least make some change off stuff I enjoy in my free time. It can't hurt.

Another avenue you might want to look into if you get serious, and one in which I am kind of exploring, is remix contests. You can find them all over, but some get some serious perks for winning submissions. I recently saw one advertised by Usher's people in which first place got $1500 and royalties, and future potential work. That isn't chump change for someone just getting into things...

Also, I kind of dropped jsquared as far as production and all goes... too many other people out there using it... even that Soundcloud page is pretty outdated...

I've got a new name I will eventually resurface under, and I am thinking about keeping personal info out of it unless it gets real serious... just to keep a bit of mystery and/or anonymity around it... lol... keeping it about the music and not the person behind it in a way...

Not going to lie, I think I started liking EDM in the last 3 months. Starting to love the sounds and getting familiar with the different acts. For me it started when Flume came out with that song "Never Be Like You" in which I thought Kai has a beautiful voice that I just couldn't resist her. Then the more I listened to the song, the more I realized flume slays on the track.

Then I went on to listen to more music then loved Jack U(Diplo and Skrillex) with Kai. Damn I love this song..and then on and on it went.
