Let's play pick two running backs

Fozzy and CAP.

people hate on Fozzy but he has shown more big play potential than anyone of the others. So the proof is in the pudding.  Most dangerous RB we have on a check down pass to date.

not sold on CAP.  Camp/preseason I'd be fine someone jumping him

CAP and Wegher because (1) they are both younger and (2) Fozzy has a tendency toward injury and that's a bad thing to have behind our Stewie.

I think CAP proved last year in very few opportunities that he has pretty good vision and knows what to do with the ball in this offense.  If he's worked hard and improved his ability in the passing game, he can slot right into the back-up RB position replacing Fozzy.  Oh, and even though he didn't make a habit of it, he put the ball on the ground twice (I think, recovering one) and he needs to stop doing that.

Fozzy is not an every-down back.  He is put into situations to succeed by being a change of pace scatback. That is why his YPC average has increased modestly as a Panther.  Before Charlotte, when teams were actually trying to force a square peg into a round hole,  his production was pedestrian at best.  I want backs that can do more than fake it when they have to carry the load.

CAP showed he can go against that level and be serviceable. Now his huge knock so far: hold onto the ball.

Is this an urban myth I and everyone else has just come to believe?

Because the two stat sites that I've checked show CAP with just one fumble (and that was in the post-season and the stats indicate that the fumble wasn't lost).  No regular season fumbles are indicated.

Did he have fumbles in last year's preseason that gave us this impression?

The botched exchange on a zone read at the end of the Giants game that was credited to Cam is where a lot of the "CAP has fumble problems" thing comes from.

People are going back to the fumbled read-option hand-offs in a couple of games.  Those aren't on CAP, but that's where they're coming from.

It seems like I am the exception but I really don't see much in CAP

CAP played against NFL regular season starters and averaged over 4 yards per carry.

I LOVE what I see in Wehger

Wegher didn't get a single regular season carry.  He did, however, look pretty good against players that didn't make NFL rosters in the 2nd half of preseason games.

Well if you don't look good against backups, you probably aren't going to look good against starters.

Hard to know if he is going to take that next step if he doesn't get the reps.
