Smith's showing serious interest in buying Panthers

We all heard Bruton's quote about buying Panthers and now his son is echoing those sentiments. Halftime shows would be lawn mower races and flaming school bus bingo but at least buyer would be CLT based.

As long as they remain 100% hands off on the football side, the richer the better.  We NEED an indoor practice facility, the sooner the better.  And with contracts like the Suh contract last year a reality in the salary cap era (never mind the fact it was a BAD deal), the ABILITY for an owner to write a check for $60 million guaranteed to a defensive tackle without breaking a sweat is an asset.

If this were baseball, I might agree. But this is the socialist, salary capped NFL.

Yes but that contract in particular was structured in a way that required an instant guaranteed $60 million check.  Stupid, yes, and the salary cap is an equalizer in the free market (although it penalizes teams that draft well), but having an owner richer than others (which Smith still wouldn't be close to being, just more $$$ than JR), can't hurt.
