The Black Luke Kuechly...

I like Michael Irvin's enthusiasm and excitement but the rest is way over the top.  Given that Kuechly was second in the nation in tackles his freshmen year and led the nation his sophomore and junior years before coming out early, that is a hard act to follow for anyone.  Given the battles it will take just for Smith to play again in the NFL it is actually pretty unfair to expect much of anything out of him let alone to be as dominant as Luke has been since he came into the league.  This kind of hype often does more damage than good. I kind of wish he hadn't set up Smith this way.

My wife and her family are huge ND fans, so I've watched tons of ND games. I watched all but 3 of Jaylons games while he was there. Linebackers are my favorite position to watch so I always make sure and watch them really close during games. I watched Keek a lot while he was at Bc and his freshman year I watched him and thought he will be great. Long story short, watching Jaylon the past couple of years I told the in laws, Jaylon is the closest thing I've seen to Keek since, well, keek. So, I guess I have that in common with Irvin.

Til Jaylon Smith steps foot on an NFL playing field, does what Luke has done, put up the numbers Luke has put up in his 4 seasons, saying he's the next "Black" Luke Kuechly is a little premature. Smith isn't even playing this year. Irvin is an ex-Cowboy so he's going to say those thing.
