Really nice write up overall, thanks!

It is nice.  The thing that pisses me off about this board is this--we NEEDED another 3T DT.   He gives us versatility.  We can play him at NT on passing situations with KK at the 3---he is that big.  We can use him to sub for KK and not lose the middle pressure--great pick.

I am not saying that Garrett is an excellent route runner,  because his routes were limited,  but to say that he never gets separation just isn't true.  I looked at the vid on Panthers.com and saw him get good separation on a couple of highlights,  so much so that he was basically wide open.  Several of his highlights are in the red zone,  if not the end zone,  so of course it's more difficult to get what is the appearance of separation,  but he still adequately made enough separation to get the catch.

I just don't know what you're seeing (or not seeing) @Bronn.  I think it may be more of a case of preconceived notions about an undrafted free agent.

And honestly, notice some of the double and near triple coverage.  That has to stand for something. I can envision him doing a lot of damage alongside KB and Funch.

I too am pretty impressed by Garrett and don't know how he wasn't drafted. He really has the size, speed and athleticism to make the roster if he can quickly develop some chemistry with Anderson since he won't be out there with the ones.

The concept of separation can include vertical as well as horizontal elements You can argue that one form of separation is the ability to leap up and use your body to sheild the defenders while snatching the ball with your long arms, over the top of them. And with 4.5 vertical speed, he is quick enough to get separation as soon as Ricky Proehl works with him at rookie camp and through the OTAs. I don't know if he makes the roster or the practice squad. But he has the drive and a huge chip on his shoulder which fits in well with this team.
