One of these QBs we keep bringing in year after year has to eventually stick.  DA can't play forever, and they aren't going to stick with Webb back there given his multi-faceted role.

I think they hold onto webb because he can do multiple things.

I feel bad for LBers trying out :( they really have almost 0 shot at making it...perhaps the PS though.

Same here.  Barber is a hometown kid, would love to see him do well but it's going to be an uphill battle for him.  Don't know him, but I know his older brother fairly well.  Still pretty cool to see a local kid get a shot.

And I think that's why any other QB looking to bump him off would need similar versatility or have a big upside in the QB dept. (unlikely for a 3rd string QB).

Agree that any LB has a huge uphill battle to make the roster.  But, gotta think that there's some benefit to them alone in getting a chance to practice with and learn from Luke, TD & Shaq and our awesome coaching staff...  That experience alone (and the mere fact of being CONSIDERED by the team with the best LB corps in the NFL) might make them more marketable if they do get cut...

Also, there is some flux behind Luke, TD & Shaq.  If, as many of us assume, this is AJ Klein's last season, and given that many of us think Ben Jacobs is replacable, and even the less-than-certain role of David Mayo going forward.... there's room for a rookie to get a foot in the door, at least as a player on ST.

A big unknown however is what our coaches are thinking about for Cash.  If, as seems very possible that he is considered as a LB and not a Safety... that makes an already uphill battle even tougher, because Cash has a bit of a headstart given the fact that he is likely would not be safe on our PS.  (Of course it seems very silly to say such a thing on May 3....!  Just my preliminary thoughts based on the interest shown him when he slipped to UDFA status.)

Very good points, the opportunity to go through drills and share a meeting room with TD and Luke is invaluable.

He graduated in the same class as me from high school and he and couldn't be a nicer guy!  The kind of character you want on your team.  Unfortunately it will be an uphill battle as linebacker on this roster.

KB someone has to hike the ball form punters and even kickers.

I just like to bring up the panthers recent UDFAs success. No wonder since Dave's got here it's picked-up 10x what it was during herinay years. I also believe in just three years Dave has gotten more UDFAs on the roster than the entire herniay history.

2013-(reminder UDFAs are the cheapest contracts in the league)

Melvin White- no longer here, but gave the panthers around 12 starts in two years.

Robert lester- gave the panthers 4 starts and decent ST play too

2014

Philly brown- played around 85% of the snaps on offense last yr.

Andrew Norwell- is a mirror of 3rd rounder pro-bowler tria Turner

2015-

Brandon Wegner- could be a legit ST er along with sharing carries with starter.

Dean Marlow- lots of talk for former and current san deigo DB coach Chris Harris about him being legit.

I will give herniay a bone on one UDFA , hoooooooooover. But that's about it. Dave has lapped him over and over. This year's has some similar talent to carry on this trend.

6'6 D End who ran track, 4.5 insanely athletic. Local guy. From Greenville SC. NC State must be too big... If he went to Jacksonville State or san jose community college he might be wearing black n blue

Are you really insinuating that the Giants front office is looking superior to the Panthers?

Cause if so lofugingl

The Giants are actually taking a fair amount of heat for their picks, especially picking Eli Apple in the top ten.

It's so much so that Jerry Resse fired back at the critics, saying they "didn't know what they were talking about".
