A Funchess Reminder

I think Philly gets a bad rap because he was UDFA. Thus people automatically question his talent and ceiling. But he is a fast player and a hell of a route runner. He still has room to grow and showed up big in the playoffs, where he needed to most.

I don't believe WR is much of a need at all.

I just discovered something a bit startling.  Even with the brand new draft class added to our roster (draft picks only, not yet including UDFAs), Funchess is still the 2nd youngest player on our roster.  Vernon Butler is something like 2 - 3 weeks younger than Funchess.  Funchess turns 22 in late May, Butler in mid-June.

Funch is still so young.  His potential to grow & improve is still pretty vast.   Exciting stuff.

Its not so much that, its guys that want to be "right" on this public forum and are embarrassed when they say wrong things. Its a shame there are so many prideful idiots here on the Huddle that think they are impressing strangers with dumb comments.

Philly was decent in the playoffs but though the season he was pretty bad. Philly had 740 snaps vs Funchess 500, yet he had the same amount of receptions and 447 yards. he is the weakest of the WRs from last year and the easiest to replace.

pretty bad with 3 drops for the season.. missed a couple games and unless you go to majority of the games you would not see how often he was open but was not targeted.  longest post season reception recorded in panther history with that 86 yard catch and run. In the  Super Bowl he  was leading recievers on both sides with recpts before he got hurt trying to play with all heart. Pre season was awful after that not so sure those words are true.

Philly if I recall was the least productive number 2 WR in the entire NFL. I don't understand the love affair? there were games last season were he disappeared, he didn't have one game with over 100 yards receiving the entire regular season.

I wouldn't be be one bit suprise if Garrett beats out both Philly and Funchess.

Huh????????????????

Philly is slightly above avg

Garrett has a slim chance to beat out Philly....but zero chance of beating out Funchess.

400+ yards as the number 2 WR while getting 700 snaps is above average?

I I didn't say Garrett would beat him out, but I wouldn't be surprised if he did. Funchess is a tweener who couldn't beat out Cotchery, I think Garrett fits our offense better.
