Offensive Line

Question:  does anyone know about the PS-eligibility rules for Foucault?  Is this year make or break for him?  (I've always assumed he's on our PS as an "international exception" ... know nothing about how long they can stay on the PS).

If the O-line is our weakest link, I think we're in pretty good shape. We have Norwell, Kalil and Turner, all are probably in the top ten of linemen. We have Oher, who proved last year that he can handle the left side. Remmers is above average but showed in the SB that he can't handle speed. Getty will make sure we have adequate back-up, he won't let the team go into camp with anything less.

Another question, while I think of it, in order to help me and others manage expectations about how & where DG might be able to find Oline depth:

What happens now with players who are cut from rosters between now and the start of TC?  Can they be signed by any team, or does the waiver wire system apply?  If waivers, that's a bit concerning given that we're #31 of #32 on the list of teams that could claim someone.

Yes, just to clarify, it's really backup depth I'm worried about, especially at tackle.  Otherwise I think our Oline is pretty solid and I love the continuity we have there for one more season.

Next year is another story with 4 of our starters potentially hitting free agency, (Kalil, Remmers & Oher all UFA eligible;  Norwell would be an RFA)....

Norwell and Turner are young. This will be Oher's 2nd year back under Matsko. . It will also be this groups 2nd year together. Maybe Williams becomes an upgrade at RT. Should we expect better overall play,  from the group?

There was not an OT in this draft that can handle Von Miller.  Nor is there one in FA so please spare us the whinning.  Remmers or Williams will do for now until we find exactly the type of Tackle they are looking for.

not that concerned. if anyone thought we were going to find any miller/ware stoppers in the draft, then they should obviously keep looking.  the only thing that can stop that is a unit playing together, everybody on the same page.  panthers obviously either weren't ready for it or allowed some hubris to sneak in after that AZ game.  they will be ready by september and stomp the fug out of those bastards in their own building.

Absolutely! Does one really want to upset the continuity of a 17-2 Offensive Line when continuity is the most important attribute of that group? Changing up just because sounds like a dumb move!

Now if an existing position gets beat in camp....then we get better, but plugging and playing just for the "sake of" would be dumb dumb dumb

Lol, don't think there is an OT alive that's not gonna lose to a motivated Von Miller!

We needed a viable 2 TE set! Also, from looks of draft and UDFA, the front office agrees! If Beau comes in and becomes a stud, I will forever believe in the power of metrics due to Ethan Young

I would have been more worried about the OL if we didn't have darryl Williams. I think he will take remmers spot and be really good. Everyone else is fine, Mike oher did a great job for us last year and I don't see hi. Getting worse. Remmers was a big reason for those 2 losses by himself.

    • Happy Thanksgiving y’all. Thankful for a very good team and for this group to talk canes.  Eat drink celebrate our win bs the rags. This team is cup ready.
    • I don't think should be seen as an insult, legitimately. Teddy's floor was consistently a good game manager to his ceiling of border-line top 10 QB who's arm strength didn't blow you away but could make all the throws and generally made good decisions and had some sneaky athleticism.  Teddy started on quite a few teams. He had a good start to his career, had a horrific injury that could have ended his career, came back and played himself into being a starter, got a contract here (and subsequently became another victim of Tepper's impetuousness), and then started games for a few other teams. Teddy could have been a franchise QB had he not suffered a freak injury, and then he just never ended up in another stable situation. He still had a good NFL career that could have been great without that injury. Teddy before that injury did look like a franchise QB, and I dont think that's a bad comp for Young nor an insult in terms of what his career could be based on that comparison.
    • Absolutely the wrong take. We have to run and gun. We have zero post presence. We just have to make shots. We just can't hit water from a boat tonight and we're turning it over to boot. Then you have a poor shooting opponent shooting lights out.  Looks like a long season ahead of us though if Hubert doesn't adapt to this roster. We have to play a pressure trapping D and get out in transition because we aren't beating anyone in the half court.
