Rapoport: Panthers Looking at Quarterbacks

My Day 2-3 WTF pick as far as QB's go for the Panthers was Dak Prescott but I think the Cowgirls are going to take him at the beginning of the 3rd.  So I am going to go out and say we take 1 of these guys in the later rounds:

Jacoby Brissett, QB, N.C. State
Height: 6-3. Weight: 231. Arm: 32.88. Hand. 9.5.
40 Time: 4.94.
Projected Round (2016): 3-5.

Jeff Driskel, QB, Louisiana Tech
Height: 6-3. Weight: 230. Arm: 32.5. Hand: 9.75.
40 Time: 4.56.
Projected Round (2016): 6-FA.

Vernon Adams Jr., QB, Oregon
Height: 5-11. Weight: 200. Hand: 9.13.
40 Time: 4.84.
Projected Round (2016): 6-FA.

Note that all of these guys are athletic and can extend the plays with their legs. Wouldn't have to change schemes with these guys.  Not saying this is even going to happen but wouldn't be surprise with DA and Webb getting "older"

My pick would be Driskel athletic big kid with wheels. 4.56 in the 40. Strong Arm.  Could be good development piece for Back up.

I'm not sure the two parts of his comment are exclusive to each other. Yes, maybe today is a big back-up QB day. Yes, maybe the Panthers have been working the QB circuit. That doesn't necessarily mean we are looking to draft one today. Teams with more pressing QB (starter or back-up) needs will probably draft one tonight. We have probably just been doing our due diligence in case a QB is available tomorrow, who Dave feels is worth grooming to replace Anderson.

Look, if we take Brissett in the 7th, I don't care. Hell, maybe even the 5th, since that pick may not make the team.

But I'm curious what the State fans on our board would say about Brissett as a draft pick. I have seen a lot of his games the last couple years, and I have been thoroughly unimpressed. He seems like the kind of guy who typically goes undrafted, and typically gets a camp invite, but doesn't make a roster. The numbers are so-so, but they ignore the fact that he feasted on a weak out of conference schedule, and he laid egg after egg after egg against quality defenses.
