Did you watch the Superbowl? Neither. If you really want to point at one spot it would have been the oline, but honestly we just had a really bad team game. Our best performance was probably from Kony Ealy. So unless you planned on reaching for an offensive tackle, I'm not sure your argument makes much sense.

That's my point.  OL and WR were the biggest problems for us.  Defense wasn't.  We didn't have to reach, we could've traded back to where the value met the need.  He could be a great player, but it's still a luxury for a team that still has needs elsewhere that the first pick could address.

I think the team played well.  Denver was a good team and therefore we were going to meet resistance.

Super Bowl was really as a simplistic as the Von/Remmers mismatch being the difference.   NFL is about match ups and they had one that won them that game.

D played dang good.  We needed the OL to hold up slightly better.

We don't have any more draft picks?

You remember we don't draft for need, right?

How did you react to last year's picks before we had our best season ever and went to the Super Bowl?

Last year's picks had literally almost nothing to do with our season. They were the very antithesis of impactful picks. Shaq had a couple plays over the course of the season but did very little overall. Funchess had a few decent catches late in the season but an overall net impact of zero at best considering all the terrible plays and drops.  Williams didn't play. CAP had a pretty bad start to his career. Nice preseason but that was it.

I haven't given up hope in Shaq, I saw the potential to maybe become a good football player eventually but he isn't one yet.  Funchess, I just hope he turns into a serviceable rotational/big package player.  Williams is the only pick I really liked at the time, and I really hope he can take that RT spot.  CAP I sorta liked at the time, had other RB preferences but saw potential, and after seeing his first year I'm just hoping he turns into a serviceable RB2.

I understand the reasoning to a point but some will go through hell to defend any move made by dg, can we quit using the luke draft as an excuse???

Dt's were not the top 3 reason we blew leads maybe not even top 5, good picks this and last year player wise but i just dont see an immediate impact being made, same with shaq

DE had potential to start.  So could a DB

Possibly but with us picking later in the draft that is all we are going to get are "potential starters"  as rookies. Like Gettleman said, we are no longer getting instant grits out of our picks because of how late we are picking. I think Gettleman thought there likely wasn't any day 1 starters available at 30 otherwise they probably would have been a Panther.

I'm not even remotely worried about wr. Getting KB back is almost like a 1st round in of itself, and funchess with another year of experience. Look out.

Gettleman didn't draft Luke, Hurney did.  And a lot of the reason we blew huge leads last season was because our Dline was gassed.  So, what does DG do?  He gives us more players to rotate. Butler is a damn good DT and he will be a nice fit here with or without KK.

Interior rush is much more disruptive.

We already had interior rush. We don't have much outside rush. I mean look no further than the fact that our leading sacker was a DT and he had more than any other two players combined...maybe any three others combined. I'd have to check on that.

We had interior rush when the guys were fresh. Guess what this pick does about that?

Some of you people embarrass me....instead of loading up on DE's and rushing from the outside in, we'll be doing the opposite....the shortest distance between two points is a straight line, and who is closer to the QB than the DT
