Jaylon Smith?

He's done. It's freaking nerve damage. There's no way he's on our board.

The thing is that there is a chance it will wake up.  If it does, whoever takes him will get a historic steal.  With that said, if it doesn't wake up, you just blew a fairly high pick, and the chance at a probable contributor.  This is the definition of a draft gamble.

I guess the docs will ultimately determine if he is on our board.  If they feel he will regain feeling in his nerve, I could see him being on the board, but only for a mid-late pick.  However, if they have no idea, I agree, he's off the board.

if we can grab him in the 4th hell yeah although i really dont want another Brandon hogan

The difference would be that Brandon Hogan was brought in assuming that he'd be able to play pretty quickly, at a position we needed someone to play at. Smith would be essentially money in the bank for us, not really counting on him, but holding his rights in case he's healthy.

I have nerve damage that consists of issues with drop foot and the inability to swing my foot in a certain direction. Once the injury to the nerve occurred and after it was reconnected, I didn't even gain an inch of regular sensation in my leg. It is possibly that the nerve will never recover because once the sheath and nerve inside are severed, the cells begin to die below that point immediately and nerve regeneration is mostly science fiction at this point.

So J Smith and the other high ranked LB has possible career ending problems?

I would not be against drafting another LB.

People will say we have shaq but lets be real Luke + Shaq is our only long term LB ballers. I feel its very important we have a TD/Shaq type out side line backers. Our inside run stuffing is A plus but our pass rushers can miss those stretch runs to the outside.. and our current CBs arent tagging your fanny. Plus people are saying Tre Boston will be SS instead of FS which adds worry to that.
