Mike Goodson - The Next DWill?

that was an indicator of some of it and there is some other stuff. he had problems in college and also the way he responds to screwing up. the captain is going through some of the same things. long memory and beating himself up about it.

it's no real slight on him. he's only 22. some 22 year olds are mature beyond their age and others aren't. some take longer to mature. he falls into that category. doesn't mean he will stay that way.

Would "cautious optimism" be an appropriate term for him?

I think Goodson has a very bright future as a Panther. While it's a long shot to think that he could become the NFL leader in TD's and YPC like D-Will, he absolutely has the same explosive ability D-Will had when he was drafted. D-Will didn't break out until his third year with us as he developed behind Foster. While that may only be because the staff didn't use him enough in his first couple years, I think after a couple years being mentored by two of the NFL's elite RB's Goodson can become something special. I believe he can certainly become a Jerious Norwood caliber player or better. And, if somewhere down the road J-Stew or D-Will gets traded, Goodson has the potential to be one of the best #2 backs in the league. He's rough around the edges right now (mainly in the ball security department), but he has athleticism and vision that can't be taught. I'm excited to watch this kid grow and flourish as a Panther.
