Paxton Lynch to the Saints?

I saw him mocked to the Saints (somewhere?) but didn't think much of it. He was just asked on NFLN where he would like to go and his answer was "I think it would be great to go somewhere, where I could learn behind a top NFL QB who has had proven success, somebody like Drew Brees in New Orleans". The reasoning given in the mock was since Sean Payton signed an extension, he needs to prepare for the long term (life after Brees).

It makes sense for them to want a QB, especially one like Lynch who could really benefit by sitting for a year. I thought that was what they were going for last year, though, with Garret Grayson in the 3rd.

With a team constantly going all-in with their aging QB, trying to catch the Panthers, with a window closing...doesn't make much sense to grab a 3rd round and a Top 10 QB in back to back drafts with so many holes on that team.  But I mean, I totally love the "strategy" there Saints...very Philly-esque of you.

If they want Lynch in the Top 10, they should've been blowing up their cap, convincing Brees to take his massive amount of money to coach 'em up this year, not try signing guys like Josh Norman, and then let Brees leave town with his SB ring in tow. Seems they're trying to rebuild and compete at the same time, while half-assing (at best) both.

But if someone like Lynch is still available at #30, that could help us in a trade option with a team with an early 2nd round pick.

Who knows, Denver may be willing to move up to get Lynch, so someone doesn't jump them. If Lynch goes early (like to the Saints), maybe Denver waits. Then maybe someone jumps them for Connor Cook.

the overhype these QB get are hilarious!

desprate teams giving up so much to get them, and they arent even that good.. they are just the best of a very poor class..

its like paying $30 for a box of ramen, because there is nothing else for miles and thats all thats left in there store.. and desperate hungry people need that ramen..

its hilarious.. both teams that traded up gave so much.. and the mother fugers aint that good.  they all seem like a blaine gabbert to me

They picked Garrettt Grayson from Colorado State in the 3rd round last year.

QB is a position, however, you always take a better one if he's available.  Passing up improvement at that position is like cutting your own throat in the NFL.

I think Lynch is a pretty darned good QB, but Auburn's bad defense embarrassed him in the Birmingham Bowl last December.  Might have just been an off day.
