Probably the case for most homers.  DG has proven to have a good nose for college talent.  That was his job for the Giants which ultimately led to his GM position with the Panthers.  Star was a no-brainer but Short and Bene were gems.  Feel good that we get some quality players this week.

As for being the GM and putting together the right formula to win a championship ... jury is still out.  Hurney got us to a Superbowl too but even the homers hate him now.

people forget, Hurney was viewed as a half-man, half- god, half possible centaur as well at one point.  Hurney was a rockstar like Dave when he had 4 years completed as GM.

Gettleman was in charge of pro personnel for the Giants, not college scouting.

how much of it is Gettlemen vs how much of it is Ron's influence on the pick?

I mean IMO we don't have Cam without Ron.  Likely don't have Luke.  Who is to say Ron's no longer had great influence?  Gotta keep in my Dave in yankee with an ego so he is naturally comes off a certain way....but I don't for one second think it is all Dave

Wait until we don't take a CB in the first 3 rounds... this place will lose it's poo.

I could see that happening actually.  I mean, Norman walking suddenly doesn't mean DE and OT are suddenly backseat issues.

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't take one at all, Gettleman wouldn't let Norman walk unless he thought "the answer was already on our roster".

How long has OT been a "need" and how many OT's has Gettleman drafted?

The funny thing is that Hurney got all of the blame for overpaying folks in 2010 and 2011 which was a direct result of Richardson's failed strategy to dump all the vets in 2010 and go cheap preparing for a prolonged lockout. When Kraft, Jones and others convinced the owners to compromise, we went 2-14 and had to pay a ton to players just to get them to play here.  Not that he didnt overpay already but this made a bad situation awful. Now his tendency to leverage future picks for immediate picks now which didnt work out like Brown and Otah, that was all on him and his win now philosophy.......

well, we just lost a SB IMO b/c we haven't valued it enough IMO.  We were in the Super Bowl asking a Ram's practice squad investment to go one on one with Von Miller.  Gettlemen watches a lot of film....the right side had been struggling on and off all year.

Gettleman tells you what he is going to do if you listen most of the time.  He says big men allow him to compete.  So while he might pick a skill position guy with extreme fastness like a slot receiver he likes big physical guys with a chip on their shoulder.  He will take them green as long as they are smart and quick learners.  So a guy like Ogbah makes some sense.  He has a huge frame and will end up being 6-4 and close to 300 lbs once he gets his NFL body.  He is very quick and athletic. As long as we dont need him to start right away he would be a good pick.  If we wanted a plug and play DE it would likely be one of the Clemson Duo who might still be there.  There are a number of DTs available in the first 3 rounds so unless there is someone we have to have who drops I think we go DT but not in the first if the projected top 20 guys are already gone.

yeah, I could see a DT and that likely will tick off some people too.

Not so fast my friend.  We shall see.  Depending on the pick at #30, there's a good chance at least a few posters go full retard.

OP was about this draft season. And the first post talks about the draft itself. That is the Huddle my friends. We all see what we want to see. lol

It is my understanding the Gman and Ron have offices right down the hall from each other. They talk together all the time. They know each other very well by now. So yeah, I would expect the draft to be influenced by Ron.

We max protect the most, or darn close, in the league. So Remmers does get lots of help. Unfortunately, it seems like when he doesn't get help, the D seems to know it. Maybe everyone knows our tell? So they know when to attack Remboy?

My one fervent wish for the year is for DWill (Seems strange to still type that now that that other DWill is gone.) to win that RT slot. I want him to win it, so we know he deserves it. But please win it DWill.
