we're going to have to agree to disagree, I believe our strength is our front 7 who has a history of making players look better than they would in other situations. Don't get me wrong I love all of our players, but all of a sudden there is narrative that we are team built upon needing a true shutdown number one CB, when history tells us differently

To Gettleman it seems to be about just building the most talented line and figuring the parts out from there. We rotate a lot of guys in and KK plays DE on passing downs. It's just going to depend on the quality of player there. Gettleman won't shy away from taking a blue chip DT prospect over a lower tier DE

But I think everyone agrees DE is a bigger need.

As much as I agree with drafting BPA.  I would have to expect a DE, CB, S, T, or WR here.  As much as I would love for A'Shawn Robinson or Vernon Butler fall to us at 30, we did sign 2 FA DTs, although long in the tooth, would mean we would have to cut one of them.  Don't see us carrying 5 DTs.  But don't think Gettleman will pass if Butler or Robinson is there and they are the BPA.  Draft week where we come!

No way Sterling will be available for that pick. If we want him, we either take him at 30, trade down and take him with a high 2nd, or trade back up into the 2nd.

I've seen so many mocks of Apple going mid 1st round. Am I missing something? If he falls to us, there can't be many players left that have a higher grade then Apple at 30. If he is there at 30, there has gotta be a good chance he is BPA, right?

4 mocks I just looked up have him going 13th, 20th, 13th, 15th overall. I know there is value at 30 for a DT. If Apple is there at 30 (which he most likely won't be), we probably should take him.

I'm not a fan of Apple at ALL.  Love Shephard in the 2nd though, so that would salvage the top two combo if this indeed did play out.

Alexander / Shepard would be a much better combo I think. 

To get Shepard in round 2, we would likely need to trade down to early 2 and then use the acquired pick to move back up into mid 2nd to grab Shepard.

Whoever the guy is that's  replacing Norman is already in the NFL. I don't see Gettleman fishing for a starting cb.
