Wow: Norman tried firing his agent and signing the tender, but Gettleman had already rescinded

i'm not swayed by people insisting that gettleman should have played pattycake with an agent who didn't know what he was doing.  as far as DG knew, josh's camp was absolutely refusing to budge.

we'll just have to agree to disagree i guess.

and i can live with that and respect these types of opinions

If you actually go back and look I don't post during games as much as you make it seem. You just choose to remember the times I posted something you didn't agree with. Part of the negativity comes from not trusting certain players until they have proven themselves over long stretches. It's no different than how I felt about Josh. He hadn't proven himself over a long period to deserve the money he wanted. Another year of that same preformance and I would have felt that he was worth it, but I'm still of the opinion that it was more scheme than anything. Not saying he isn't talented, hers just not a shutdown corner like he believes. After last season I'm more confident about several key players so you would have noticed less negativity from me all around. That's how I have always been. People need to prove they are clutch for me to have confidence in them. Honesty, how clutch was Josh in the Super Bowl ? Didn't he drop 2 sure INT's. Elite players don't choke in that situation.

Sure bro.

The reason we got out of cap hell is because of what he did in 2014. The tag on Hardy in retrospect was horrible.  They wanted to keep that front 7 that won us so many games in 2013 together so it made sense. But 2014 could not be helped when we were purging contracts left and right and signing cheap players while veterans were retiring. We just lacked talent and the talented players we did have were young and still getting their feet wet.

and no I don't think he's perfect but he's general manager of the year for a reason.

Totally agree, my point was that for every Ted Ginn there's been a Tiquan Underwood and for every Mike Mitchell/Kurt Coleman there's been a Thomas Decoud. He's done a great job, but to say that he hasnt made any mistakes would be foolish

man decoud sucked

i try not to talk poo about guys who thrive in a profession predicated on getting into the equivalent of a car accident every 60 seconds but he's one of the least physical safeties i've ever seen

He had multiple weeks to sign the tender. He said in an interview that waiting is his speciality. This is the result.

Ever seen a contract negociation with the Franchise Tag before?  players usually dont sign till training camp so they dont have to show up to OTA's. very common for players to wait till the last minute to sign the tag,  JPP with the giants was doing the same thing before he blew his hand up tho.

And to say Gettleman isn't a HUGE part of our success is equally as foolish.

Dave Gettleman has proven to be a great at his job. However, that doesn't mean he can't make mistakes. These mistakes happen once in a while. Do I believe JNo's situation could've been better managed? Yes. Do I believe GMan's got a plan? Yes. I trust Gman knows how to move forward from this. He's proven that time and time again.

This isn't the first time people have felt that Gettleman "could've handled something better."

Blame for this falls on Norman's agent for not keeping Norman in the loop. Of course blame ultimately falls on Norman for hiring this clown in the first place.

Fully agreed.  Anyone can represent a 5th round draft pick rookie, but when it comes time to sign a big boy contract you need an agent who knows what he's doing.  Looks like Josh figured that out, but unfortunately it was too late for it to work out for him to possibly remain a Panther.

U mad, bro?  U seem mad.  You're really lashing out and taking things to a personal level on this one.  Might be time to step away and have a beer.

Remove your nose from Josh Norman's scrotum and check back with this thread.
