He had multiple weeks to sign the tender. He said in an interview that waiting is his speciality. This is the result.

The reason we got out of cap hell is because of what he did in 2014. The tag on Hardy in retrospect was horrible.  They wanted to keep that front 7 that won us so many games in 2013 together so it made sense. But 2014 could not be helped when we were purging contracts left and right and signing cheap players while veterans were retiring. We just lacked talent and the talented players we did have were young and still getting their feet wet.

Totally agree, my point was that for every Ted Ginn there's been a Tiquan Underwood and for every Mike Mitchell/Kurt Coleman there's been a Thomas Decoud. He's done a great job, but to say that he hasnt made any mistakes would be foolish

Ever seen a contract negociation with the Franchise Tag before?  players usually dont sign till training camp so they dont have to show up to OTA's. very common for players to wait till the last minute to sign the tag,  JPP with the giants was doing the same thing before he blew his hand up tho.

Dave Gettleman has proven to be a great at his job. However, that doesn't mean he can't make mistakes. These mistakes happen once in a while. Do I believe JNo's situation could've been better managed? Yes. Do I believe GMan's got a plan? Yes. I trust Gman knows how to move forward from this. He's proven that time and time again.

This isn't the first time people have felt that Gettleman "could've handled something better."

Fully agreed.  Anyone can represent a 5th round draft pick rookie, but when it comes time to sign a big boy contract you need an agent who knows what he's doing.  Looks like Josh figured that out, but unfortunately it was too late for it to work out for him to possibly remain a Panther.
