Wow: Norman tried firing his agent and signing the tender, but Gettleman had already rescinded

Only way to come back after than was on a deal that was $4mil per season below his worth. Wasn't a greed thing, was a pride thing. I'm not saying he isn't prideful. He certainly is. It's a trait most successful football players have.

We probably would've gone as much as $12-13M per. Either way, my point is Josh wasn't done wrong in any way.

No, it's not. It's his job to do what's in the best interest of the team.  Negotiations with noob agents had obviously fallen apart, but once Josh personally reached out offering to fire the agent, if I'm in Gentleman's I'm willing to see what Josh is thinking in terms of signing a long-term deal.

there were stories going around that the panthers both were and weren't willing to do that.

i think the fact that the redskins were on it instantaneously and shoved a number in his face that's higher than gettleman can count had a lot to do with it too

Goes to show to all the dumbfugs that wanna blast Norman and call him greedy and poo, this was an unfortunate series events brought about by a stupid agent.  Norman should have gotten a better agent, but no way for him to have foreseen this.

This is my prevailing thought. Hell, even going back to negotiations before last season, a better agent possibly could've gotten Josh a better offer than the 7 million a year, let's say 9-10, and he may have taken that instead of betting on himself.

Players, do yourselves a favor, and get a real agent.

As for Gettleman's role I honestly don't know what or how to feel about this and probably never will. I feel like he made the right call for the future of the team, but damn there seems to have been a ton of miscommunication with this or something.

The point was he wasn't going to be a Panther after this season anyway and that was common knowledge that's bad for team chemistry

imagine Norman leading the league in picks with us this season only cause the front 7 being really good then the whole team having to hear Norman and his loud mouth about how he's going to be the highest paid player coming off a super bowl win

gettleman said you might as well just fug off now

Exactly. Even if Josh had made the call before the paperwork, Gman would not have taken him back.

I feel a bit differently hearing this.  Sounds like we had a chance to possibly keep him and Gettleman acted bullheaded.

Assuming this is true.

That not what the artical said. It said it had already been filed and could not be rescinded. It was too late. If anything it takes any blame off if Gettleman and puts it squarely on the agent for not communicating with his client.

At some point, the players in Carolina could legitimately start taking issue with the GM.  Front office tension could come into play eventually.

Gross, 89, maybe here...it is debatable how well he has handled some pretty big time players.  Players take note of how a front office treats "them".
