Wow: Norman tried firing his agent and signing the tender, but Gettleman had already rescinded

19 pages and only one person has said what matters: josh could've signed with us as a free agent. there was no real deadline on him signing a deal with someone else. if he really wanted to sign here he would've waited a day for the paperwork to clear, had his new agent meet with gettleman, and sign the offered deal before listening to offers from other teams.

josh wanted money more than he wanted to play for the panthers, plain and simple. my guess is he heard the numbers washington was slinging and just couldn't resist, but also ultimately feels bad for having taken it and left his team, and thus this statement comes out trying to reconcile the two.

So, what you're saying is... it was all about the money?

Since Gettleman arrived, the number of players who "have parting words" for the organization continues to increase.

If it's just a couple fringe players here and there, I can understand the belief that it's sour grapes. But the fact of the matter is there have been more than a couple players, including seasoned veterans, and one has to ask when do you start paying attention to what these players are saying?

Yeah, like that douche Charles Johnson who we released this offseason...

Who turned down a contract twice as large to come back and play for the organization on a one year deal.

Or Ted Ginn Jr. who left us after one year to get paid in Arizona...

Only to turn around the next year and join us again at a fair price and go on to lead our receivers in yards, receptions, and TDs...

I have no issues with how the G-Man runs this team because we've done nothing but go to the playoffs each season he's been here.

It almost always is.....and that does NOT make Josh (or any other player) a bad guy.  It means that he could not walk away from a additional $31M.  And, I can't blame him.

I wish Josh all the best. As I mentioned before and some here have forgotten but Josh was living in his car at what point. If I was offered 75 million dollars I'm taking it. Many who say they wouldn't are clearly lying.

I just hope he don't do an Deangelo and twist this as a motivation to be better. Gettleman left the door open,, he just chose to go through another one..

Good Luck JNO..

I can sit here all day, and say I'd gladly play for the panthers for league minimum.  However, if someone throws down 20 - 30 million more, and says, "we'll pay you this much to play for us."  Guess where I'm goin...  Hey, I still love ya Carolina!

He got to the market and teams started offering him roughly 15 mil per. Doesn't have anything to do with "desire" when those kinds of sums are being offered to you. He never shouldve gotten to the market to hear those offers.

Apparently, he did try that but Gettleman had already decided to move on.

Already in the process of signing a new agent, Ryan Williams, Norman had Williams call the Panthers to see if something could be worked out.

By that time the Panthers had filed the tag paperwork with the league and decided to move on

Lol, blind love for Gettleman?  Too funny...

The guys you mention deserve their due credit, for what they've done to contribute to the team's success.  They are far from 70% of it.

You know the truth but you cant admit it no matter how good a GM is the game always comes down to player performing and coaches game plan. There is a system and GM a is critical part but he is not the most crucial peace. One good example is  that a Coach can be a GM but there never has been a GM who has been the coach of the team AKA Bill Belichick.

Players > Coaches > GM.

Pretty big load of horse poo, but if you think you can haul it, by all means...

Pretty interesting how our team sucked ass, even with Luke/Cam/Ron, until we got a new GM, don't you think?

Wait....so we are worried about what crybaby Williams and hothead Smith are saying about a team that cut them?

Of the "big players" that we have released, pushed toward retirement, etc....the only one that really hurt us was Gross.

Funny how nobody bitched about Marty Hurney when the panthers were in the cellar for years

Can someone answer the question?

My heart bleeds for blood-sucking overpaid veterans with entitlement issues.
