Batum is trying to give it a go Monday evening

“Do everything you can to bring me back Monday,” Batum would tell a trainer. “I’ve got to be back.”

Batum admits the truth, though. He doesn’t know if his sprained left ankle will be healed enough for him to play Monday. ...

“You work all year long to play those games and when an injury like that happens it’s tough,” Batum said. “I trust my teammates and I trust the coaching staff. I’ll try to get back as quickly as possible. But when you play all year long and to be in this position, it’s tough to not be on the court.”

may be an indicator of his desire to stick with the team past this season.

It's pretty much a given that if we show him a proper offer he will still be here. I think that goes for most of the free agents on this team.

I appreciate that he really wants to play but at what point does his presence while not a hundred percent actually hurt the team more than it helps?

His desire shows his commitment to stay, which would make the offseason trade worth it.

I kind of want to see Clifford and Spoelstra chess their rotation again tonight with an activated Batum.  Get a W and it's a best of 3 between coaching staffs.

Good on Batum.  But, I have to point out, not to be that guy, but look at all the guys on our team that wear Adidas and the ankle problems they have.  Just sayin'...

I jave a personal beef with Adidas because those were the shoes i was wearing when I came down on mone, suffered a third degree sprain, and didnt walk for a month afterwards.

Also, I've never got the impression that Batum wanted to leave.  I just hope the Hornets don't bring in Gettleman to handle contract negotiations...

"His agent hung up too fast, pull the offer.  See what Rick Brunson is doing.  I bet the trusty old vet still has some in the tank...  real meat and potatoes kind of guy!"
