Norman was not a production of a system

I don't think people understand how hard it is to find a CB of Norman's caliber, pass rushers are a dime of dozen. There about 3 corners in the entire NFL that have lock down ability

I had to highlight this, because the part in bold proves that you have no earthly idea what you're talking about.

This here is what we all want to know. The ideal scenario was having Josh tagged for a year and just letting him walk next season, resigning all of our necessary long term players, and having an elite shutdown CB who, as the OP mentioned, did a lot more for this team schematically than people are giving him credit for, for an additional season. Perhaps you could hope his value would slip and you would get a good CB at a better rate, if that's your cup of tea.

The best explanation I've been able to muster so far is that Dave was getting flustered as we got closer to the draft about a shortage of picks, and made a move to ensure we had more next year. Which I think we'd all agree would be silly, given the disparity in value between an elite CB and a mid round pick. Idk if that's what happened. But its the only thing I could think up. It certainly doesn't have anything to do with the power of friendship or whatever goofy line people cook up about Josh in "the locker room."

Josh today was saying that he was blindsided by the decision and only wanted to play with us. I call BS because all he had to do was sign the tag and that would have happened. He was the one that refused to sign it and act as if he might hold out. So Gettleman decided he didn't want someone here who didn't want to be here so he turned him loose to go elsewhere. He did Norman a favor. End of story.

He never threatened to hold out. Nobody of consequence believed he would. Delaying signing your tag for a long term deal is fairly common business practice in this league. It was well known that he wanted to be here, as that quote along with everyone else close to the situation who has provided commentary on it has reiterated.

He wanted to be here as long as we respected him and paid him what he thought he was worth.

Worth is typically decided by what someone is willing to pay for something, and since McCloughan paid Josh 50M guaranteed...that means that's what he was worth.

Except, he was worth that to the Skins, Saints, 49ers, but not to the Panthers, and I'm perfectly OK with an NFC GM making a huge financial mistake, which is what just happened.

You know gooby. If you didn't come off as a whiny pissed off 12 year old, people might actual, you know, listen to your thoughts. Food for thought.

And there you go again. Cursing and throwing slurs at folks is one sure fire way to get them to listen.

Also, if we tagged Josh, we would have had about 18mil left. Stah, and Short, alone would eat that up. We wouldn't of had any money to sign anyone else. That argument does not hold water.

Then we have to sign KB, Ealy, Trai, Norwell, Shaq, Fun Fun, and Bene'. So yeah, that 14mil we saved from Josh will go a long way in keeping our core together. But keep on hating that Josh is gone. That ONE player doomed our whole future. Never to see a SuperB owl again we are.

Oh, and in your haste to post this thread bashing the Panthers for letting Josh get away. You OP was really really difficult to read. Slow your roll down, and make a coherent statement. Maybe that will up your cred.

You just mentioned 7 guys who will not get contracts next season, that alone makes your statement stupid and invalid to this argument .

So far you have not even tried to decipher my original post, cause you can't.

I already told you I couldn't even read that crap. Your grammar and syntax were all over the place. You were in such a hurry to put your little rant out there, you made absolutely no sense. But then again, that is what you do best. Rant away, all the while thinking you know best. Kids, you gotta love em'. It's the law.

So just because players are not going to get paid next year, we can spend all our cap space this year? Is that what you are saying? Cuz if that is so. You will put us behind big time. How do you plan on getting that Cap space back? Don't worry, I don't expect you to actually know, or even tell me how this works.

If you pay KK, and bring in any FAs to use up our Cap space this year. How do you plan on keeping the rest of your core? This one I gotta know. Mr. smarty pants has a plan, don't you?

So you must think that every year we will have 14mil extra to play with. Only an idiot with no sense of how things really work would think that. You ain't teh idiot is you?

For someone that thinks Gman, and basically everyone else, is an idiot. You sure trust him to come up with money to pay everyone. LOL

Stick to watching tape, and talent evaluation. It is what you do best. lol Cuz you have no clue on how things really work.

But he watches tape and stuff. He doesn't care about the Cap. All he cares is that we keep every player he likes. And he likes a lot of players. Which is odd, cuz he also thinks we suck. And we need to get better, NOW.

Isn't it pretty standard for guys who get tagged to wait until the deadline to sign it?  I mean that is par for the course for any player that wants a contract

He doesn't watch tape. Heck, he doesn't even seem to watch the original games.

You can talk about stuff that happened in just about any game that everybody saw and he'll have no idea what you're talking about. If you made something up he'd probably tell you he remembers it.

He's just claiming to watch tape so he sounds like he knows something. Of course when you read the rest of what he says, it's obvious he knows nothing.

Whose saying spend all the cap? Where are you pulling this non sense from? Most reasonable people wanted to rent Norman this season, it still would left us with a ton of space for next season. Do I have to dumb down everything to you?

it seems other posters had no problem reading my OP, I think I might have to dumb that for you to.

For a while there I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. Trying to talk to him like two rational adults. That went down the crapper quick. Now, I just try to make him mad. I don't usually do that kind of thing, cuz I like discussing the Panthers and such. But he has gone over the edge.

Typical kid. Thinks he knows everything. Perfect example of a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
