Hmm...why isn't a single Panther, not even in the secondary, mad at Josh?

Who cares? He's not a Panther. DG made the right decision, and Josh got what he wanted. Everybody's happy.

How? outside of doing Josh Norman a solid the only person who won in this situation was Norman.  DG's job is to field the best team he can year in and year out, 1 more year of norman on the tag is better than no norman at all. Our defense is worse then it was last year because of this, you never want to be going backwards in the NFL.

I do congratulate Norman on getting the contract he wanted. and he does deserve the contract he recieved he gave carolina 2 very good years playing for pretty much peanuts

I didn't and neither did anyone else. But we lost the Super Bowl last year and we're going to have a worse roster in 2016. I think we're looking at Year 22 of no Super Bowl win.

You could make the point that our Offense lost us the SuperB owl. So getting KB back should give us a better shot. Losing 1 player is not going to derail our hopes. Well for most people anyway. But by all means, continue to rant away. You are entertaining.

I think we were looking at that with or without Josh. It was a tall task to get back there and it still is and no more so without him.  People are homers and only see what they want. Truth is Josh is not elite and is not worth the money he wanted. He bet on himself and he likely knew some team would be silly enough to overpay him. He won that bet and good for him. Sadly the team he left had a better shot at a super bowl than any team that would pay him the money he wanted. He gets paid, but will never sniff another super bowl. Now, as with any player not on the Panthers, I could care less about them. I don't wish him well because I've never wished a player from another team well. That doesn't mean I wish them bad luck or harm, just means I don't give one $hit about them. Folks will see, Josh benefitted in a big way from the scheme the panthers play on defense and the Daniel Snyder Redskins always sign players to HUGE contracts that don't deserve them.

the whole point of that analogy is that nobody really knows that, and that isn't a "well maybe jake delhomme won't be horrible in 2009" nobody-really-knows-that either.  this is a team that is at least solid in a lot of areas and elite in a few and we should be a major threat for the playoffs by even conservative estimates.  and with the parity in the NFL about the best thing you can ask for is to be in the mix year to year.

if you think that that means i have low expectations or i don't want to win a super bowl then you can have that.

there was also a healthy contingent poo-pooing what josh did at the end of 2014 saying we faced a bunch of crap quarterbacks and teams that had given up (saints, falcons) and that he was far too undisciplined and too much of a hothead to ever be a real star cornerback.

long story short crazy poo happens sometimes.  we just saw a ridiculously crazy sequence of events a few short months ago.

Josh did not have a concussion last year. The only time he got taken out was when Luke knocked him out of bounds and he lost his balance. The ref made him leave the game, and he was back in the next play.

Making things up to back your point. Who does that sort of thing? Oh yeah. My 12 year old nephew.

And your point is a perfect argument for why Josh SHOULD get all the money he can. Permanent injury is a real problem in the NFL.

Got your facts wrong and bashed me for getting them right and then agreed with my point. Yes, I agree Josh should get all the money he can which has been my point all along. Real quality post there iamhubby1.

The $14M in cap space we gained will go a long long way towards keeping core young players who will be free agents soon.

he lost some bet he made in hilarious fashion one time.  i forget over what.

seriously though i have a certain amount of respect for ol SMF because he was saying some very brave, controversial things about john fox and jake delhomme at a time when nobody wanted to hear it.  and he was largely on point.

I believe it was cam newton is not clutch and will never lead a 4th quarter comeback.

I cant even remember how many we should trade for player X threads he started. Definitely remember a Brady Quinn one after the one good game he played against the lions, and a matt leinart one.

Now there's a guy whose football ideas should be listened to.

he was like "name one clutch play cam has made" and someone pointed out the 4th and 10+ he converted on a rope to lafell against the vikings to get us into field goal range.  then he went all "no that doesn't count warhghahh"

Whenever a significant player leaves the Panthers through FA or being cut, it sure brings out the worst of this place.  Gameday threads excluded of course.
