Better things to do than argue with Gettleman fellatio fanatics. People like you derive way too much pleasure from the incessant circlejerking on this board.

"The answer is on the roster." Yeah, that sure worked out vs. the Broncos. Don't count on Gettleman lucking his way back into the Super Bowl on the back of the core drafted by the GM everyone loves to hate. This franchise is absolute garbage without Newton and Kuechly. Hurney was an absolute clown for the most part, but Gettleman probably drafts defensive linemen if he's GM during those drafts and all the Gettlecucks would be nowhere to be found.

"The answer is on the roster" seemed to work quite well as we won 15 games. But I guess that was all Hurney's doing.

But because we lost the SB, Gman, and by extension the Panthers, are losers? Well everyone but Cam and Luke that is. Wow. You can't make this stuff up.

Meh personally I'd rather take 11 mil a year and be a perennial division champ and have a legit shot at titles. Money can/will go away a chip will last forever.

Yuppers. That "chip" would mean more to Josh than the extra 31mil the skins paid him. So glad you could enlighten me.

Now I don't know you. But if you were willing to turn down an extra 31mil for a "chip". I would have to call you crazy. Literally thousands of NFL players never won a "chip". I would bet my wife's left tit that almost all of them would take the extra 31mil.

But not you right?

I think there are some players that would, and do, take smaller deals to help the team (Tom Brady, for example). But none of us can really say we'd turn down 20+ million or whatever ridiculous amount it is in order to stay with the same team. Never know what you'd do until the offer was on the table.

Don't give a fug about you nor your enlightenment, just saying what I'd possibly do in that situation. Hell we could win multiple rings and poo like that with all pro play could lead to the HOF and I'd be thinking I have a much better chance behind this D to really shine and keep up the high level of play. I'd also have another contract in me if I was winning rings and could potentially go elsewhere if for whatever reason The Panthers didn't want me after our hopeful success.

So yea maybe I am crazy but that's the stuff I'd be mulling over. So no not me...not that simply.

But Brady had already made a butt-load of money. Same with CJ. Once you've gotten that pay day, it is much easier to give back. Josh never really got paid. So I can see why he did what he did.

Plus Brady already had a few "Ships" under his belt.

Now when you are talking money over "Ships" that is a tough one. It is easy for fans to say, I'd take the "Ship". But most players know they may never see one. I can't blame them from chasing the money. Especially when you consider they have spent most of their lives working the azz off just to get into the NFL.

The skins gave Josh 31mil more than we offered. If they, or any team for that matter had offered him only a few mil more than us, then maybe he would have come back. But how can you expect a guy to turn down 75mil? I call BS on anyone that says they would take the "Ship" over 75mil.

but you don't have better things to do than race here the second a controversial roster move is made.  and yeah keep accusing anyone who isn't in lockstep with your insane point of view (which is that dave gettleman is the worst GM in NFL history and probably a nazi if i've got my story straight) of being gay that's real original.  and no matter how bad hurney bombed there were always people supporting him around here so i reject your notion that there would be no "gettlecucks" around in the scenario you suggested but that's not the point.

hell, i'd contend that winning 15 games in a season in the salary cap era of the NFL requires a certain amount of luck anyway.  it's unlikely that the panthers, patriots, seahawks, or really anyone else is going to win 15 games again any time soon.

if gettleman was GM during the 2011 draft i don't doubt at all that he'd have drafted cam.  gettleman and his scouts would have probably done the same thing that hurney and his staff did and completely break him down.  gettleman loves huge physical freaks and that's exactly what cam is.  they may or may not have drafted kuechly, maybe dontari poe or some other horrible bust which i'll concede.  keep in mind that hurney would have sprinted to the podium to draft mark barron if he was on the board as it's been documented that him and rivera both loved him so luke kuechly even being here was left up to fate to some extent too.

i'll give hurney all the credit in the world for drafting luke kuechly and cam newton.  that's two players though.  and while they're tremendously important, for every kuechly or cam there were two or three horrible moves.  hurney drafted 32 players from 2009-2012 and i'd consider four of them elite (hardy, cam, luke, norman) with lafell and munnerlyn being serviceable.  the rest was a bunch of absolute crap, like not even backup or rotational level.  there is a big difference between that and what gettleman has done in his time here.

and why do you like the word "cuck" so much.  did you discover 4chan this year?

Lol I was agreeing with you dude. I'm saying anyone who thinks they wouldn't take the money will never be in that situation, but would probably make the same decision Josh did if they actually were.

First, I call BS that you would go for a "Ship" over a 75mil dollar contract.

Second, Josh is not getting a second contract. Now if he had come into the league as a 21 year old rookie, he may have already gotten his second contract. Which may give him the opportunity to chase a few rings. But he is 28, going on 29, and has made very little money so far. I don't blame him for chasing the money. Especially the amount that got thrown at him.

Third, yeah, you are crazy.

Sorry about that. I was basically agreeing with you. I guess after all the hell tonight I got a little carried away. I was just trying to explain my stance.

It does suck, but I agree with Gman on this one. Our philosophy just doesn't allow for a 15mil a year CB. I hate losing Josh, cuz he was good for us. But we just couldn't afford him.

Exactly. We were never gonna match the offer, so as old Foxy would say, it is what it is. Wish him well and move on. If anything, it gives us a chance to find yet another defensive gem, be it through free agency or the draft.

The world so crazy...there's people in it that may not actually die over 30 million dollars when they've got 40+ coming and other things on top of the money. But yea most people are simple so I get it...that's why most people would just take the money without much thought about anything else.

Defiantly agree that things are going to be interesting around here real soon. I know Gman wanted to keep both Stah, and Short. This makes that much easier to do. The tough part is replacing Josh. Not sure we bring in a FA for a while, as it could affect the comp pick formula. So the draft is going to be fun.

I trust Gman, cuz he has done an amazing job to date. But I will admit. I am a tad bit worried on how this is going to all work out.

Are we still talking about Josh? Because you are confusing the heck out of me.

You do realize that Josh just signed a 75mil dollar contract? And that he is not going to get another one after this one? I have no earthly idea where you are trying to go with this.

You would pass up on 75mil, and take 44mil just at a chance at a ring? OK then. I surely hope your family doesn't have to pay for your principles.
