Somebody needs to show this to our rb's

If Jake could complete at a minimum 5 passes a game to Smitty and then let the YAC do the rest, running 25-45 times would work.

Regardless of the comments, fact is fact, when one of our two running backs get 15 or more carries we would win over 90% of our games.

Add to that the defense would get complete and total rest.

We have some exceptional players at the skill positions. All it needs is a QB (and an OC) to manage the game and get the ball in their hands. Why we don't throw more screens and passes in the flats to Williams and Stewart to get them the ball in space is beyond me.

Run it all the time??????

Sorry, but when you have one of the most explosive receivers in the game, a second receiver like Moose as well as a quick tight end with good hands in Barnidge and Rosario, not to mention Goodson (when he can keep from fumbling) you find a way to get them involved in the offense. With a good gameplan Jake should be fine. Lets be honest, he can be very effective if you help him manage the game and have a chance to get hot at the end of the game if needed

All the bullets in the world won't help you if you don't have a gun that fires properly.

Until one of our RBs fumbles 5 times in a game, our passing game is still our weakest link.

This coaching staff hasn't shown me they can gameplan well around Jake's weaknesses, nor have they shown a willingness to work in players like Goodson or Barnidge. I'd love nothing more than to see that happen.

I'd like to know how many of those interceptions were intended for Smith. It seems like the majority of them were. Why can't Jake and our coaching staff come up with a backup plan? Are they so naive to think Smith will take care of everything?

I know that realistically you can't run the ball all the time. But we scored with the run early on in both the Philadelphia and Arizona games, and then virtually abandoned it to try and play catch up. Even if they're stopping the run, at least we're not turning it over nearly every single series and giving the opposing teams great field position.

I hope, come tomorrow, we can look at Atlanta and see a very different game. Not only in Jake's performance, but in the gameplan. The coaching of these last two games has been as much to blame in these losses as Jake.

Took the words right out of my mouth, brutha.

My biggest beef with Jake has and probably will always be he does not go through his progressions. And trying to get it to Smitty is a good goal but when he is targeted as much as he is all D have to do is roll coverage to him.

I think if you want to use Smith right you need to have him go in Motion prior to the snap and make the D adjust to him this allows other players to get open and confuses the D. You do the same with Dwill line him up at WR in the slot anything you can do to get the ball to him in space. And don't even get me started on how good I think Goodson could be with a creative O coordinator.

Bottom line is this Coaching Staff has shown me time and time again that they can not gameplan. When we were successful last year it was because we just handed the ball off and then throw in a play action every once in a while. I think just about any one can create that gameplan. We have to much talent to be as disgraceful as we have been the past 9 months. I think they will have to go to be a consistent winner.

So far means one game, not even enough to see a trend. The playoffs were a year ago. If we aren't going to give the team credit for Jake's 129 rating in week 17, we can't make too much of the playoff loss.

Lets see what happens today. I expect that they will come up with a better gameplan. I have been disappointed before as well as pleasantly surprised. I guess I will wait to bash everyone when I have plenty of reason instead of after 1/16 of the season.

You think they didn't gameplan to run alot and mix up the pass last year. I guess things just happened? Funny how when things go well we are just lucky, but when things go poorly the coaches can't gameplan.

Pretty amazing!!

Yeah, but we also run the ball when we're maintaining a lead.

If we're down by large deficits, as we were against Arizona and Philadelphia, we're passing to play catch up.

I am beginning to seriously wonder, however, if we would do better to run the ball nearly all the time. If we go three and out, so be it if we don't turn the ball over or let the other team score off of a fumble or interception. One of the backs will break a long one if we just keep feeding them.

Man, it would certainly save some face for us even if we didn't get a W. I know the games are different, but in college, if you watched the Tenn-Fla game, Lane Kiffin ran 3 downs almost everytime and mixed in some play action every now and then. It really made that game closer than it should have been. If we do that, and our defense does their part, we're in every game.
