Josh Norman to Redskins or 49ers by Friday

Everyone on here dissing Josh Norman are the same ones crying in a corner about losing him. It's like acting like your last breakup was no big deal, but crying in your bed the next night because your ex was everything to you.

Josh Norman is a skilled player. He had help from our front seven, but that doesn't mean he had some skills of his own. He's been great while he was here, I truly wish him luck for his future.

Happy for him? No, but you don't have to act like some he's some piece of poo who deserves failure.

I never said anything remotely like this. I don't have any issue with a player trying to maximize their income, but I've grown tired of Norman telling everyone how great he is all the time and constantly talking about money.

I promise you he'll end up regretting this decision because once you include taxes and cost of living, I doubt the difference in money is that significant.  But with Norman it is all about ego.

I don't like it at all, honestly.

I mean, I WISH I had the problem of not being paid the $15M a year I deserved and had to settle for $9-10M a year to retain some semblance of honor and comfort, being on a good team and players that I know and have helped me.

But, if JNo accepts one of these other teams offers, he will lose pretty much all the respect he has earned from me. Not that that does or should matter to him, but I guess our outlooks on life are just different.

Good for him for getting more money on top of a lot of money, but I won't feel bad for him when he disappears from the ranks in a couple years because he isn't the player he, or uninformed/cellar-dweller teams, thought he was.

Now, if he has a change of heart, and realizes that he was truly one step away from another great year and a potential Super Bowl championship, and truly being seen and accepted by most as the player he thinks he is, then all can be forgiven. Come on home, Josh. Nobody else can offer you what the Panthers do, all things considered.

It ought to liven up the division.  He'll be playing OBJ twice a year.

Interesting theory too because 2 pfs and your out of the game now. We all know too that OBJ will be allowed to do what ever he wants.

Lol!

I urge ppl to watch the 30 for 30 special featuring the Orlando Magic to try and understand why Josh wants the contract he wants. (Reason why Shaq left Orlando)

He will get his long-term deal with the 49ers at least.

Grabbing money rarely works out for the player in the NFL.  The salary cap really makes its hard to win like that. Norman will get paid but he will regress like just about every CB that has gone for the cash.

The Josh hate is pretty sad. He gave everything for the Panthers. Best CB in team history and people want to help him pack because he wants to be paid what he's worth.

I wouldn't take Norman over Chris Gamble in his prime (heck, an argument could be made for Eric Davis).

He's great, but not necessarily the greatest.

Looks like Redskins will sign Norman tomorrow to $15M annually

Josh Norman - DB -  Free Agent

The Washington Post reports the Redskins have made an offer to free agent CB Josh Norman.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Norman is fielding five-year deals worth between $14-$15 million annually. With an estimated $11.6 million in cap space, the Redskins would have to get slightly creative with the structure of the deal or do some mild cap gymnastics to fit that size contract under the salary limit, but the cap is not a real concern. Norman is meeting with the Redskins on Friday. The 49ers are thought to be the other team seriously involved in negotiations.

"$11.6 million in cap space" isn't even relevant. They could easily offer a big signing bonus with a low first year salary and fit it in. For example (and NO I don't think he gets this much), they could give a $ 50 million signing bonus on a 5 year deal with a $1 million first year salary and be less than that $11.6 million in cap hit. They'd obviously need to clear some space for draft picks but have some time for that.

It's sad that Chris Gamble will be remembered by most for his fumble in MN. Was an exceptional Corner while here.

Still believe that Gettleman asked for a guarantee that Norman would play on the franchise tag and not hold out. He did not get that guarantee and with the May 12 deadline looming  to get compensation via a pick, he was forced to let him go.

I disagree. The franchise tag was nothing more than a placeholder while they tried to get a deal done.

He's very good in our system, and that's not an insult.

Truth be told, I'd say the same thing about Sherman, Peterson...probably every other corner with the possible exception of Darrelle Revis. There really aren't that many true 'shutdown corners' out there.

Unfortunately, Norman isn't one either, but he wanted to be paid like he is.
