same could be said for KB. he would be a top 15 pick in the draft if not for the injury this past october. the medicals will be important for him.

Absolutely the same can be said for KB.  It's part of the reason why I think a WR in the first three rounds is almost a lock.  ACL recovery is no sure thing.

Which of these things has he done since tearing his ACL?

We reportedly had Gurley #1 on our board last year so I don't know that the ACL rules him out for us. La Canfora did report last night that he is likely to miss a couple games at the beginning of the year so that may be factor.

We'll continue to fill the safety position with low round picks and vets. It's how we build our defense. We skimp at the safety position and load up the front 7. This is Panthers 101. Not taking a safety in the first round.

You are very likely right, but nothing G-man does surprises me anymore. Like any religion, I just trust him blindly and follow his commandments: big men allow you to compete, do unto hog mollies as you would have done unto you, etc.

Even if he has a first round grade on Joseph, I doubt he'll be BPA at 30. The same draft board show Apple (CB), Ogbah (DE), and Butler (DT) available when we pick. We met with all of them, and I see being our picks before Joseph. Hunter (TE), who a lot of us like a lot (and some not so much), is also available according to PFF.

I think Gurley was one of those special cases.  He was widely considered the best RB since Adrian Peterson and a likely once in a decade type prospect.  Guys like that get viewed through a different lens than most prospects.  You roll the dice on a guy like that if the medical are checking out.  I don't think anyone considers Joseph anywhere close to that type of prospect.  It doesn't mean he won't become a damn good NFL player, but no one is expecting him to become the best safety in the game for the next decade.

Joseph is a top 20 talent. Because of his position I'm not sure if Gettleman will take him, but the dude can ball.

Explosive, Instinctive, creates turnovers and Tough, tough, tough. I think he can be the star in the back end of our defense, unfortunately the other posters are right I'm not sure 1st round saftey fits Gman's philosophy. I'm not mad at it.

As far as pure talent I put Joseph a tier below Lawson, Dodd, and Butler (I really like Butler) and tier above Emmanuel, Henry, Henry, and Shepard.
