Well, with that attitude, he's obviously disappointed. He wants that big contract, but it seems he wants it from Carolina. He's been trying to prove his worth to Carolina the past few years, and he feels he's finally done it, but the FO isn't buying it with good reason. I'd be disappointed too if the team I loved and played my guts out for didn't consider me a priority or a key piece. I think JNo will finally submit when he realizes he won't get a Revis contract anywhere. He's getting emotional on his business side of the deal, while Gman is sitting cold as stone.

Since when do you pay 12-13 million a year for a player you don't consider a priority. I don't blame Josh for trying to get his money, but at some point you have to fold your cards and save your chips.

According to a CBS article, Josh's agent said he hadn't even been in talks at all with Gettleman recently and this was completely out of the blue. Also Josh was at apparently at a funeral today so I'm sure he's not in the mood to talk about this.

Never ever trust what an agent says to the media. Ever.

I don't, but I also don't trust anything a GM says.

Dave has literally never lied to the media.  Ever. Actually bring up something that he has said in the past that he lied about. Even with smitty he said "we are evaluating everyone"

Im pretty upset about Josh. I love that dude and was one of the few posters on here who still had his back and hyped him up after his doghouse benching in 2013 and wanted him here long term or at least another year to help us get back to the super bowl. But Dave is as straight a shooter as they come. Dave is not an idiot, you don't just remove this kind of elite talent from your team because of dumb things like "pride", never once has he shown that kind of vice to decide a football move.

He has always been tactical and stuck to a plan. Josh and his agent did something to make DG uneasy and willing to part ways. I'm certain of it. It fuging sucks.

Be quiet newb

Funny the guy who joined last year calling me a "Newb" lol, ive been a member of this site since it was Panthers huddle in 2003, when you were in your dads balls.  I have Panthers jerseys older than you.  Because people on this board have a life and don't post 1000 times a day like you, doesn't make someone a "newb".  Says the guy who joined last year a damn bandwagonerlol.

It's a remote possibility I suppose. But I would not expect him to return like a situation we saw with Charles Johnson. CJ was coming off a rather mediocre season aside from a few flashes in the playoffs. Norman was pretty much the best CB in football last season. Someone is going to throw serious cash at him.

If someone pays him 16 million a year it's going to end up hurting them in the end. You have to be more than just a really good player to command that type of money. The thing that Josh didn't realize is we can't pay every good player we have 16 million a year. It's just not feasible or sustainable.

I think this was a bad choice, for a lot of reasons.    It's not like we're a team with no chance in the playoffs, we are a super bowl contender, the #1 team on power rankings.  Not anymore I bet.   We're taking a big chance here.  We're banking on our pressure to be good enough to help whomever we have at that CB spot now.  It wasn't good enough last year.  Norman was one of the top 3-4 reasons we were so good last year.   We better have a good draft and hope Charles Johnson is transported back in time 4 years and plays like that.   CB was a spot that had no depth even before, now, we're terrible at that spot.  Bene was pretty bad last year before getting hurt.  We had to bring Finnegan off the street and Tillman was a hailmary at best.   It's going to be a long season of watching "Nakamura" passes get throw on us.

And really, how can anyone blame Josh?  Jenkins got paid, and he's not as good as Josh.  The Panthers kept Josh from playing for years and instead had garbage vets out there.  He was drafted late so he hasn't made all that money others have.   Not to mention people don't quite understand that athletes pay a ton of taxes, they don't get to hide all their funds like the top 1%, then on top of that, agent fees.   The one year franchise deal was for a good bit of money, but he could get hurt in ONE play and never get another contract.   I don't blame him, especially when the market dictates he should get more.    Get prepared for a team like the Patriots to snatch him up and use it to help them go deep in the playoffs.

Worst yet, Gentleman went against his "we don't develop talent for other teams" guideline, and looks pretty bad in the eyes of the other players, the league, and anyone that wants to play here.   I mean, I would be fine if we weren't a playoff team, whatever, but this is the type of move that really hurts your chances of going deep.   Let's hope the gamble pays off.   I worry it's going to pay off like the Chris Chandler/Byron Bell at left tackle gamble though.

Dude, seriously? If you don't love what Gettleman has done and will continue to do for this team and don't trust him please go find another team to pull for. Gentleman is straight up.

Any true Panthers fan should better hope that he comes back. If he doesn't, it's a hole in our secondary.

I'm still in hopes that he comes back ONLY based on his reaction.

Let's hope that we get him back, I for one will be sad to see him go. Until he signs elsewhere there's a chance.

I'd like to see him back, but not if he's going to be unhappy. The guy deserves his loot, but I'd prefer him getting it from another team. I'd be reasonably happy for him to cash in somewhere like Oaktown, then come back in a year or two. (see Ted Ginn)
