Let's hope his team mates are in his ear to come back, finish what they started.

I don't know if that can happen now. According to DG's statement, that is. And also the pride Josh keeps. The Panthers just doubted him and that is part of his fuel.

We have seen it all over the forum recently but I am going to post it again, the added bold emphasis is mine.

"After a number of conversations with Josh's agent we realized that a long-term deal was not attainable," general manager Dave Gettleman said in a statement. "We have decided to rescind the franchise tag freeing Josh to immediately become a UFA. We thank Josh for all his contributions and truly wish him well."

The maxwell hammer has dropped folks. Josh is now putting on his bose head phones and lavishing himself in ZImmer sountracks hoping for the best.

Timing is a factor here too, not so much of it being close to the draft, but more so to the fact that the schedule had already come out, and he already had mentally prepared for it. Revenge game, prime time, etc

If he comes back, Gettleman will win GM of the century!

While you may be right, the bolded part really has absolutely no bearing on whether or not Norman will return. GM speak. The same was said of CJ whenever we released him.

The ball is in Josh's court.

Norman just saw Janoris Jenkins get close to $13M/yr and he is only one year younger than Norman. Norman was and is regarded as one of the best CBs in the NFL... Some team will definitely give him around $15M/yr.

I would say that Jenkins deal was crazy.  But yeah someone will open the wallet for him.  Again it will be a mistake IMO.

You also have to consider the fact that the Panthers rescinding the franchise tag like this is a concerning red flag for other potential teams, especially one considering paying him as the top CB in the league. They are going to want to know what happened.

I think the only teams who would be willing to throw anything near $15 million a year at him are also going to be going nowhere in a hurry as far as postseason appearance/success. If he wants to compete for another Lombardi Trophy, he's going to have to give a little to get a little either way so to speak.

Something happened behind closed doors. Sucks, but that's how it goes.

This situation was like a couple that's been dating a long time and Person A finally gets fed up and says "either put a ring on my finger or we're done".  After trying to change their mind Person B says fine, have a good life.  Still hurts for Person A.

Like in that movie

This is tough, I really like josh and I think he is solid. Is it the scheme? Maybe. It doesn't matter, because he played fantastic in it and no one else did or could have for us. Should he get paid, yes, but how much I don't know. It's tough to compare his situation with others.
