Which free agent corner do we bring in??

You guys are in for a world of hurt.  Losing Norman hurts many positions.  Our safeties aren't the best, Coleman gets INTs but gets regularly burned.  Now he has to cover both sides (because people chose not to pass to Norman's guy).   We're going to be burned pretty bad back there, unless Boston comes in and is amazing or we get lucky in the draft.  Whatever CB comes in is going to be 50% as good as Norman as well.  We also now need the Dline to be better than they were.  Their sacks last year were COVERAGE sacks, and now that Norman is gone, the QB's have a lot more places to throw.

There are a lot of variables that have to go right for this to make sense.   Maybe DG is magic?  I doubt it.   This is going to be another Chandler/Bell situation I'm afraid.  I hope I'm 100% wrong though.

I think people are overrating our pass-rush. KK is the only elite pass rusher we have. Ealy and CJ showed flashes late so hopefully Ealy proves that he is the guy we saw in the SB and CJ shows that he is back from injury. If those things don't happen, we don't the pass rush we need. We already rely on blitzes too often and having a weaker secondary surly doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy about blitzing often.

The team we lost to in the SB showed what happens when you pair an elite front 7 with an elite secondary. We are going to roll with two nickel-cbs and maybe an over-the-hill Cason-type free agent. I don't know much about the CBs in the draft but unless we strike gold, we will be overmatched in at least half of our games next year.

A list of WRs that we will not shut down next year:

D. Thomas/Sanders

Julio x2

Evans x2

John Brown/M.Floyd

A. Cooper

J. Kearse (assuming Bene handles Baldwin)

You guys can hide and downplay this as much as you want, this is now a serious issue with no viable replacement. Even if for some strange ass reason we get Ramsey, he'd have to develop. Norman IS shut down. I don't care what you think about his ego. It also wasn't just one season. He's been lights out since given the opportunity to start. Maybe it'll be like CJ and he will test the waters and come back. I've never heard of a rescinded franchise deal but just b/c he wanted to hold out doesn't mean you should cut the player. I believe in Gettleman, but i'm still irked over Smitty.

Already signed Boykin. That's probably it until post-draft.

Gettleman has a history of either signing vets so he can go BPA or he thinks the answer is already on the roster.  I heard that Josh fired his agent so maybe he knows something about Josh we dont and thinks they are not over yet.  I dont really know..  This really isnt like Benjamin who got hurt in the preseason and we didnt have the money or that many folks to choose from.  He surely wont panic and just pick up folks but there are a few guys still out there who would be good options.  Boykin has said he really is most comfortable in the slot and while he can play outside does much better in the slot so I dont see him as the answer.

True, but Bene was supposed to be our slot guy too. Poo happens. If anything, I predict that anyone that we bring in prior to, or even right after the draft will be a depth signing. A Robert McClain, if you will(you probably won't).

He got the opportunity to start in 2013. We benched him. He played 7 games. Step down off the ledge. We went 12-4 with a completely different secondary AND receiving corp. We're built from the inside out. We CANNOT spend 10% of the cap on one CB. CALM DOWN!

Cromartie?  Stop gap but he's still like 3-4 years younger than Peanut was, plus he knows Ron.  That assumes Ron likes him.

He's made his money, but no ring! I could definitely see him taking a team-friendly deal like Tillman and Allen just to get a final run for SB51.
